Garmin recently introduced its first heart rate monitors for use in the water: HRM Tri and HRM Swim. Two chest bands created specifically to offer the most complete data to triathletes and swimmers in order to help them progress in each of their workouts.
Both devices have a data storage capacity of up to 20 hours during swimming. This data can then be transferred to a compatible device after a training session, as well as sending real-time heart rate to the watch when the monitor is out of the water.
Garmin HRM Tri
This is a chest strap specifically designed for triathletes, capable of recording your heart rate data during each triathlon discipline. In addition, the Garmin HRM Tri monitor provides you with all the running dynamics data such as cadence, vertical oscillation, and ground contact time.
This heart rate monitor for triathlon is characterized by its lightness and adaptability to the torso of your body, thanks to its rounded edges and soft seams, providing maximum comfort when you're out of the water.
Garmin HRM Swim
An ideal device to monitor your heart rate during your training sessions in the pool. Garmin HRM Swim is an anti-slip, compact and resistant chest strap, able to remain fixed while swimming, even during impulses, which does not oppose resistance in the water.
Its function is to record all the data related to your heart rate when you swim and then send it to a compatible device. It is also capable of transferring your heart rate in real time, as well as interval summaries, during breaks, as long as the band and device are out of the water.
Autonomy
Both heart rate monitors offer great autonomy to users so that they can train with them for extended periods of time. In the case of the HRM Tri chest strap its battery life extends to 10 months, while the HRM Swim device goes even further with its 18 months.
Detailed metrics
The Garmin Connect online platform allows athletes using these two monitors to know in detail and analyze their heart rate data. In addition, it also allows you to analyze detailed metrics of your sport disciplines, pool workouts, including pace, stroke, efficiency or swolf, view graphs and many more parameters.
