Berlin Marathon 2024: live and results

Like every end of September, one of the most eagerly awaited moments for running enthusiasts comes full of history. We are talking about none other than the Berlin Marathon 2024, which will be held on September 29th starting at 8:50 am. A spectacle with which the Majors will head into the final stretch of the year, camino to Chicago and New York to finish the season.

A race, this Berlin Marathon 2024, which, as you already know, celebrates the whopping 50 years, and will consist, as is logical, of the emblematic distance of 42,195 meters that will be run along a circuit that is neo for breaking records due to its low accumulated slope, its position with respect to del mar level (low altitude) and optimal temperatures for running.

Despite celebrating its 50th anniversary, this year's edition will be somewhat decaffeinated, since, especially in the men's race, we will miss big names in world athletics. For the first time since 2014, neither Eliud Kipchoge nor Kenenisa Bekele will take the start of this emblematic marathon (runners who, between them, have 7 victories).

However, among the favorites in the men's category for this new open edition, will be the Ethiopian Tadese Bekele, who with a record in the distance of 2:03:24 starts as the athlete to beat next Sunday. To try to do so we will have names like Kibiwott Kandie, with better half marathon records but who maintains a time of 2:04:48 achieved in Valencia 2023.

On the other hand, the women's field will be led by the Ethiopian Tigist Ketema, who made a great debut this year in the Dubai Marathon with a spectacular 2:16:07. Besides her, athletes like Genzebe Dibaba or the native Melat Kejeta will face in an edition that hopefully will offer us great surprises.
