Who is doing the analysis today?

David Olabarri is a journalist and runner. But a real runner, one of those who have just started running. One of those who at some point in his life change the ball to start running. Like many of you. And not everything is going to be technical analysis of runners with times below 2:40 in marathon. David has run several half marathons and a marathon. In less than a month he faces his first New York marathon. His training for the last month has been with the new Joma Híspalis XIV. We leave you with his conclusions...

We begin

After running for more than 100 kilometers with the Joma Hispalis XIV, the verdict seems clear: I don't find excessive differences between the high-end running shoes (150 euros) with which I have run during the last months and this new Joma model, which stands out for its quality-price ratio.

The most experienced, those who pay attention to every little detail, will surely find objections to this statement. But the truth is that, after jogging a lot on different surfaces, after completing a run of more than 22 kilometers, they seem to me to be a shoe for almost daily training and, as in my case, preparing for a marathon.

Am I the ideal runner for these shoes? YES

In theory, the Hispalis are designed for runners with a neutral stride and weighing more than 70 kilos. It is a very stable shoe, which also seems to be very resistant at the moment - to evaluate this point accurately we need to use them a lot more - and it is ideal for running at gentle paces - above 4.30 min/km.

That is to say, with its 320 grams of weight, it is not the ideal model for those athletes who want to 'fly' in races, but it seems a type of shoe more suitable for training and for average runners who are looking for a shoe with a lot of cushioning but who do not want to spend a fortune.

While waiting for the price of this new model to be finalized, the Hispalis XIII can be found for less than 80 euros. It is worth remembering that this is Joma 's top-of-the-line running shoe.

Feelings

As for the sensations, the shoe is very comfortable. For me, maybe a little wide because I like the models a little tighter, but that depends on each foot.

The midsole, as we said, has an excellent cushioning, maybe a little harder than in the Hispalis XIII, but perfect for long workouts. This greater sensation of hardness gives this model a little more response as it does not give in so much, which is helped by the curved toe cap that helps in the transition. In the midfoot there is again a TPU piece (Stabilis) that works very well both to prevent twisting and to provide stability.

The outsole has incorporated some studs that allow to combine asphalt runs with other types of terrains -without getting too enthusiastic-.

Summarizing

In spite of the good initial sensations, I have also detected that as time goes by, and as we keep adding kilometers, we start to appreciate that the shoes tend to lose their original shape. This deformation can be a problem when doing long runs because they become softer and the foot is not as supported as it was at the beginning.

All in all, this is a very recommendable model that does not differ that much from the higher ranges. In addition, if what you like most in a shoe is the aesthetics and design, these aspects have not been neglected either, with a combination of green and black tones very striking.
