They had been circulating in the market for some time, but the official presentation of the model was missing. So Reebok decided to do it big and gathered 150 guests, including journalists, personalities and people related to the world of fashion and sport in a magical setting, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Catalonia (Barcelona), at the foot of Montjuic, to unveil the new Reebok ONE Series sneakers. A model in which the sports brand has put many hopes and, as they recognized at the event, it seems that they are being fulfilled, given the acceptance it is having in the market.
But let's go by parts. Because the presentation was not an ordinary promotional event. Days before, they sent a very special invitation to the media, including 'Vamos a Correr' and 'Runnea', to attend what the sports firm called Reebok Experience 'run with an advantage'. The invitation era very suggestive, a shoe of the model to be presented, while it was explained that the other one would be picked up in Barcelona. So last Thursday 9, we traveled to Barcelona to attend the presentation and something more. A surprise in the form of a tour around Montjuic, 4 kilometers, to test in situ the excellence of the Reebok ONE Cushion, the model in question.
At seven o'clock in the evening, the invited journalists were summoned to the hotel lobby to go to the museum where the presentation would take place. About twenty of us gathered dressed in the same way -blue T-shirt, black pants and sneakers, much more striking in the male version than in the female-. On arrival at the MNAC we could see the dimensions of the event. Reebok spared no means and made a whole display of light and sound to publicize the qualities of their new training shoes. But first, a group of instructors led by José Luis Blanco, European 3,000m steeplechase runner-up in Göteborg'2006, taught us about the importance of warming up to face the 4 kilometers of training.
The stage where we did the laps to condition the muscles was spectacular, the oval room of the MNAC, a huge and unique enclosure of 1600 square meters, reminiscent of a Roman amphitheater and where one had the feeling of enjoying one of those unique moments related to athletics. Then it was the turn of the show. The speaker Alberto Montenegro introduced the company's representatives, who explained in a few minutes the main qualities of the shoe, which we will analyze in depth later.
And then it was time to run. The guests were divided into three groups, depending on the capacity of each one, and we ran at night through places like the Olympic Stadium or the Palau Sant Jordi. A leg-breaking, demanding route, with a final prize, climbing all the stairs leading to the MNAC. And arrival all together to make the group photo even more spectacular. A truly unforgettable experience.
But it's time to talk about the protagonist. We must introduce that Reebok ONE series is a new range, where the technology focuses on promoting the three phases of the tread, ie, reception, transition and momentum. It is a neutral training model, where the three phases are clearly differentiated from the first visual impact, because they are defined by the colors black, blue and green-yellow. The novelty of Reebok 's ONE Series in general, and of course of the ONE Cushion in particular, is that it provides different densities to the EVA material of the midsole for each of these phases. Reebok calls this technology Foam Fusion, which provides greater fluidity throughout the entire stride.
Regarding the outsole, the reinforced aspect in the heel is different, something that is also observed in the upper of the shoe. A closed mesh is used in the heel, which opens up, making the whole area lighter and more breathable.
When it's time to put it on, we notice that it's a wide last shoe. In addition, once we start running, we can see all the innovation that Reebok has explained to us. When you step in, you immediately notice the cushioning, while you have that feeling of continuity in the transition to the push-off.
In the run we did around Montjuic, the objective era test the shoe's reaction to different stimuli, since the route was full of ups and downs, and even stairs. And the feeling you get at all times is that the shoe is responsive, that it adapts to each terrain, that it provides cushioning both uphill and downhill, and that when it comes to traction, it has very good grip, whatever the surface.
It is, therefore, a very suitable shoe for training on all types of surfaces. Reebok has achieved its goal with the ONE Series range, and as for the Cushion model in particular, another addition, its lightness. The weight stands at 266 grams which brings it close to the real flyers of any other brand.
