Here I comment on what, in my opinion, have been the best running shoes 2013 that I have had the opportunity to test this year, very different from each other.

Shoe for those looking for security

ASICS KAYANO 19

This has traditionally been in ASICS the top of the range model in terms of cushioning and pronation control and for this version has undergone a considerable improvement, especially in lightness and versatility.

This way I have found a shoe of just 300 grams, great quality in the fabrics of the different areas, pleasant to the touch and good fit. It takes a step forward in stability with that structure in the sole crossing the arch and with the orientation line embedded in the groove that runs longitudinally.

In short, it is not heavy, offers great cushioning, but without being soft, good pronation control and a remarkable response for its characteristics both in long workouts and in changes of pace as it does not lag behind, accompanies and protects.

Good model for those looking for safety and protection, for runners over 70 kilos and even for quiet runs for those who are light and experienced.

A shoe for almost everything

I was really impressed by this neutral model from the very first moment: balance, lightness, flexibility, responsiveness...

It has a drop of 8 mm, being halfway between a traditional shoe and a minimalist shoe, gathering the best of both concepts, cushioning and stability on impact with the ground, good transition and momentum in a natural way to complete the step.

It has performed extraordinarily well in long and hard runs, hills and training sessions of all kinds, but its response stands out in lively runs under 4 min/km and even at faster paces of series or in the changes of the fartlek being a valid option in competitions of various distances and even in marathon.

I have them already with more than 1,000 kilometers and I keep using them frequently without fear because they remain in good condition and retain their properties, very good shoe from Saucony.

Breakthrough shoe

This shoe has been my first contact with the minimalist material: 4 mm drop, 190 grams, no reinforcements, small curvature in the middle of the sole, very flexible, elastic,.... buff, too much for me.

Or not? I was already apprehensive to try them and from the first strides one thing became clear: these shoes are for flying, they ask you to go fast.

Their particular design means that the support is made with the middle part of the foot and that you go slightly more inclined forward.

The impact absorption is just enough (we are with a real flyer), but the response is optimal, you feel propelled.

It did not take long to convince me although I could also appreciate that it is for light runners in short races or very fast workouts, but not long ones as they are very aggressive.

A little-known brand in the world of running in Europe, but with great travel and sales in the US so it is worth paying attention to their models, designed to run fast in a natural way both on asphalt and in the mountains.
