2014 begins with the aftertaste of a 2013 that has brought us some of the best models of Running shoes in recent years.
However, this ranking is about "highlighting" the 3 best models that we have tested.
In total there have been about 11 different so the fight is really complicated to discern.
In order to do so, I have no choice but to use those shoes that best adapted to my physical characteristics.
Here are my 3 favorite Running shoes in 2013:
Training shoes... "Cushioning to the max."
Because of my knee problems after more than 25 years practicing handball, cushioning is one of the features that comes first in my choice of training shoes. That's why, for those long runs at easy paces when I go out to enjoy running for the simple fact of doing sport, what I need is comfort, a soft and not excessively heavy tread.
The Nike Air Pegasus +30 is undoubtedly a shoe that has fulfilled all my expectations in this type of outings. In addition, the model has significantly improved its durability compared to previous editions. A perfect option for a shoe that, without being top of the range, has a reasonable price and incredible performance for runners with neutral footstep.
Shoes to compete with a single premise ... "I want cushioning"
In the world of competition in running and triathlon there are only 2 types of athletes. Those who go out to win and those who go out to enjoy.
- By win I mean all those who seek to beat a record, fight for a position or overcome an opponent.
- On the other hand, those who go out to enjoy themselves don't care about the stopwatch, the position or the rival, the challenge is to finish in the best possible way.
This season I have opted for this second option. And it is also a very broad spectrum of runners. That's why I didn't look for a flying shoe or a mixed shoe. I needed cushioning, comfort, some support and more lightness. The Saucony Triumph 11 has all of those features.
Its cushioning is not as "soft" as a Nike Vomero 8 or a Skechers Gorun Ride 22 amazing shoes otherwise) but it is excellent and generous. More responsive than the Pegasus, more support and protection. And all of that in a top of the range shoe with a light weight (maybe because of the drop to 8 mm) and an amazing durability.
The surprise of the season
I've been wanting to try the Boost technology that for many has been a revolution. I will do it this year for sure. Until then the great surprise of the season for the characteristics that I have mentioned above, I have been provided by the Reebok One Cushion. To combine such exquisite cushioning in a shoe that weighs less than 270 grams has won me over. Soft, soft in the heel, harder in the midfoot and even harder in the metatarsal area. Different densities of EVA for each of the phases of the foot strike. Reebok calls this technology Foam Fusion, which provides greater fluidity throughout the entire stride.
And all this with a wide last but that fits very well and in which comfort is its superlative feature. A breathable upper, a design that does not go unnoticed and a more than competitive price make it a shoe that has been a positive surprise in the past 2013.
