The Mizuno Synchro MX is renewed, new spectacular colors. Today we bring you the indigo blue model tested by Alberto Cebollada.

Mizuno offers us a new concept of multipurpose footwear, which allows you to use it to get started in the running or to make soft runs comfortably and I will be able to use it to go to the gym. It is indisputable that the need for running enthusiasts to perform strength exercises and perform various activities is booming, these new Synchro allow you to do a little of everything and perfectly meet the requirements.

In fact, its versatility together with its innovative look, exquisite aesthetics and finishes also allows you to use it as a speaker to wear and be the envy of your colleagues. It is light on the feet as it weighs only 270 gr in size 85 uses.

To give it that versatility and above all, comfortable cushioning, the wave system is dispensed with and combines two Eva composite materials, the U4icX in the heel and midsole layer closer to the sole and the AP+ on top, closer to the sole of the foot.

This distribution in layers and differentiated by zones allows to soften the entry of the foot at the heel, stabilize the foot medially and facilitate propulsion, but above all the good cushioning capacity of these materials makes this model a comfortable and pleasant shoe in any activity that involves the movement and propulsion of the foot.

The upper is made of thermosealed and a very ventilated mesh, which houses the Dynamotion Fit system, which is a medial instep containment strap that wraps around the instep internally, improving the foot's containment and fit.

With these Synchro shoes it is possible to do a little bit of everything!!! ¡¡¡¡.

Midsole and Cushioning

The components used in the midsole are U4icX, a very light material with good shock absorption capacity that provides a soft and pleasant feel at the heel entry, but with enough hardness to provide stability. This is achieved because Mizuno varies the hardness of the material throughout the midsole providing stability to the tread...In addition in the midfoot and forefoot appears softer Ap+ and a lower hardness of U4icX.

Drop of 12, with 30 mm in heel and 18 mm in forefoot, this lower height at forefoot level provides good stability along with the internal medial containment of the U4icX.

This higher drop makes it very suitable for squat work and single leg strength exercises where the Achilles tendon is located in an optimal position libre of excessive elongation.

Heel Support

The heel support is solidly supported by a sturdy heel counter that stabilizes the foot perfectly, but is very wide which penalizes stability in narrow feet. The finish of the external heel support is impeccable, giving the impression that the
two halves of the heel are sewn together and reinforced with a heat seal that provides strength and abrasion resistance.

Upper

The collar is well padded and feels comfortable. The tongue is attached to the inner lining and is very well ventilated, it is narrow and sometimes the sides of the upper are felt on the ankle, the highest part of the upper where the collar begins and
fits the last hole of the lace is somewhat distant and to have a good hold of the ankle is preferable to resort to the last hole further back that holds better.

The upper is made of thermosealed and a very ventilated mesh that houses the Dynamotion Fit system, which is a medial instep containment strap that wraps around the instep internally, improving the foot's containment and fit. The toe is reinforced with thermo-sealing as well as the transition area from the suede to the midfoot, this reinforcement in addition to adjusting the foot, reinforces the flex zone and increases the durability of the upper.

Outsole

The sole is 90 mm wide at the heel and 110 mm at the forefoot, which gives it good stability. It uses a highly abrasion-resistant rubber called X10, which is undoubtedly a safe bet against the abrasion typical of traction exercises, pushing, changes of direction, jumps and receptions and other physical skills typical of physical conditioning in the gym, libre or in a Crossfit box.

The distribution of the relatively flat cleat and a considerable thickness in the heel 6mm, allows to have a sole for many months of training. Flexibility is not its strong point, it only has a couple of transversal grooves and is a little bit scarce. The entire sole is protected by abrasion resistant rubber but not as much as the X10 which only covers the outer heel area. The central area is left unprotected as a tread guide, which by the way this groove is also insufficient when it comes to facilitating the tread.

Opportunities for improvement

The X10 abrasion resistant rubber only covers the outer heel area, the rest is a rubber that penalizes the grip in wet areas.

The longitudinal groove as a foot strike guide is insufficient to facilitate the transition of the foot, penalizing fluidity and response when running at medium paces.

Excessively wide heel which in narrow feet is wide and holds little.

Strengths

  • Versatility.
  • Lightweight
  • Stability and arch support.
  • Its high drop is ideal for working on leg strength in the gym.
  • Heel stability.
  • Beautiful Mizuno logo heat-sealed in white.
  • Very ventilated upper.
  • Thermosealed perfect and very well finished in the toe and the transition area of the suede to midfoot, reinforcements that in addition to adjust the foot, reinforce the flexion area and increases the durability of the upper.

Conclusion and type of user

A model that offers versatility is logical that it penalizes in performance in some aspects, but these Synchro Mx respond very well in light jogs, so they are perfect for an initiation to running.

At the same time they are very pleasant, stable and comfortable for use in other sports activities, going to the gym or even to dress given its aesthetics and finishes.

For an occasional neutral runner or an insole user up to 80 kg who likes to go to the gym, run on the treadmill and perform a fitness program or any other type of indoor sports activity.
