If you want to live an authentic running experience you have to try the new Reebok Floatride Ultraknit, an ultralight shoe whose innovative Floatride foam technology has been used by NASA in the CST100 Starliner capsule.

What they have tried, and achieved, is to give maximum cushioning and response in each stride and that the runner maintains the feeling of lightness throughout the race.

By the way, the Floatride Ultraknit has been chosen Best Debut by the prestigious Runner's World magazine, which has led it to be positioned as one of the best Running shoes of the season.

Let's take a closer look...

Upper

One of the most outstanding advances of the FloatRide is its upper. They again use Ultraknit technology, in a single piece, seamless and with ultralight material that facilitates several aspects highly valued by runners: flexibility and breathability. It is one of those shoes that allow, due to its format, to use them without socks and without the risk of getting blisters.

We should also note the heel area, with a support focused on providing stability and keeping the foot centered during the race. The design of the heel has been made in 3D and chafe-proof to ensure safety and comfort.

Also note the plastic skeleton that serves to link the lacing. It allows a perfect fit to each type of foot. The laces are a bit thick for my taste and made of a material that gives the sensation of loosening during the run.

Cushioning

This is a fundamental shoe in any preparation that requires long series on the track, changes of pace or even fast runs. Its good cushioning allows the muscles not to be overloaded as the kilometers accumulate.

The new FloatRide technology, characterized by its soft cushioning -especially in the heel area-, provides great stability to the stride, thus achieving greater reactivity in the forefoot area. The shoe's cushioning is good, even for long distance runners, as its 8mmdrop facilitates energy return during the race.

Outsole and midsole

The outsole of the FloatRide UltraKnit consists of a single piece of rubber with small square lugs for firmness on asphalt. However, on wet pavement I have had the sensation that it detracts in grip and loses in a sense of security. It also has flex grooves to enhance the Float effect.
In the midsole we find a structure formed by the cells of the Supreme FloatRide foam, a foam that contributes to give stability to the foot during the tread.

Conclusion

The new cushioning technology that promises to "float" during the race meets the expectations 100%, because that is precisely the feeling that the Floatride leaves you with.
Stability, flexibility and breathability are three words that go perfectly with a shoe designed to adapt to the foot in motion, with a lightweight and comfortable fit thanks to its one-piece, seamless upper.

They also feature EVA perimeter support that keeps the foot centered during foot strike transition and good cushioning for superior energy return with great responsiveness.

The new Floatride are a good option for adding kilometers at fast paces, in short races and quality training sessions, although if you have a good running technique they can be ideal even for medium and long distances.
