Top running shoes 2022
We will start with the new running shoes for women and men that have been widely popular in 2022, and are already available to compare prices. Of course, we will explain the anticipated updates to some of the most emblematic models of the top brands in the running universe. Namely:
adidas Ultraboost 22
We start strong with the flagship adidas daily training shoe for neutral runners, also suitable for mild pronators for the support they offer in each stride. The Ultraboost was designed to accumulate kilometers regardless of the distance being covered. The new Ultraboost 22 has improvements in key areas such as greater reactivity and dynamism, but also in the fit with a redefined upper to further improve running sensations.
In addition, the great argument in favor of these adidas Ultraboost 22 is that they have released a version exclusively designed to meet the needs of female runners (new last, narrower heel and wider forefoot). Even so, the trademark feature remains the same: top of the range cushioning that ensures protection and comfort from the first to the last kilometer.
adidas Solarglide 5
With unprecedented energy return and superior stability, the adidas Solarglide 5 establishes itself as very valuable for a broad spectrum of runners and distances on asphalt. Its top of the range cushioning is capable of offering impeccable response in your daily runs at easy paces, and the aesthetics have evolved for a more modern look.
ASICS Gel Kayano 29
If there is one shoe in the world with maximum stability and cushioning, it is the ASICS Gel Kayano 29. In the 29th version, these shoes are lighter, more fluid and more comfortable. All this, of course, without decreasing the level of support and stability. You'll need to try them to be convinced that this is a shoe that can not be imitated, and that offers everything you need to run all distances with maximum stability.
ASICS Gel Noosa tri 14
These high-performance shoes are the latest update to the iconic ASICS saga for triathletes. The ASICS Gel Noosa Tri 14 is a safe bet for neutral runners looking to move at brisk paces in training and/or competitions up to mid-distance. A mixed shoe that incorporates the GuideSole system, the Gel Noosa Tri boasts a structure that "cancels out" flexibility but ensures greater running biomechanic efficiency.
New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v12
This flagship from the Boston-based company continues to be a valuable option for neutral runners looking to accumulate a very high volume of kilometers on asphalt. A benchmark of the brand is its evolution towards an increasingly racer aesthetic, opting to implement an upper that is increasingly lightweight, breathable and elastic.
New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer
The FuelCell Supercomp has been labeled as New Balance's "illegal shoe", as the model violates current World Athletics regulations due to its midsole, which is higher than the set limit. This is the shoe with a carbon fiber plate for popular runners. However, as a daily training model, the New Balance FuelCell Supercomp Trainer offers very good response, but is also able to maximize its level of cushioning.
Nike Pegasus 39
The expected renewal of the Nike Pegasus 39 continues a very marked evolution, and despite being a benchmark for a large group of runners, the Nike Pegasus 39 continue to surprise us with their notable changes. This year's change will be radical because it is expected that this model will leave behind the concept of a more universal sneaker, instead reaching more competitive levels. The Pegasus 39 is adapting a more "racing" style and performance, but maintaining a high-flying cushioning capacity.
Nike ZoomX StreakFly
There is no doubt that the Nike ZoomX StreakFly is one of the most noteworthy releases of 2022. The new silhouette is of the fastest models to come out of the Oregon brand. Its technologies and materials are designed to offer a more explosive and dynamic response, which leads us to affirm that this model will contribute to a propulsion phase that makes the difference on the asphalt. The cause of this propulsion is very clear: ZoomX foam in its midsole.
PUMA Velocity Nitro 2
Optimized to tackle all kinds of distances on asphalt, from a 10K to the marathon, the Velocity Nitro 2 offers a perfect balance between dynamism, lightness and flexibility. This well-cushioned shoe can move at intermediate but also fast paces in your daily sessions.
Mizuno Wave Rider 26
The Wave Rider is the flagship of the Japanese brand, and the most vertasile daily training shoe to date. An icon for neutral runners for all types of distances, and adaptable to different race paces, these Mizuno Wave Rider 26 are updated, and present a version with a thicker midsole, seeking to ensure that perfect balance between cushioning and energy return. With this model on your feet you will achieve a lighter and more comfortable running experience.
Mizuno Wave Horizon 6
This running shoe with maximum cushioning and stability from the Japanese brand is designed for runners with a pronated footprint and comes with numerous changes. It is designed to run at rather slow paces, but still offers high performance. As usual in this saga, the Mizuno Wave Horizon 6 maintains that unmatched balance between comfort, softness and support to run with confidence and without distractions. The verdict of our #RunTester of the RUNNEA TEAM is a 9 out of 10. It's been a long time since we've seen a score like this on RUNNEA, it's clear that "new horizons" are coming!
Brooks Glycerin 20
The undisputed reference for neutral runners, this edition of the Brooks Glycerin brings with it important new features that mainly affect the configuration of its midsole. Changes are also visible in the upper where the product designers have opted for a lighter, more elastic and breathable fabric.
Joma R3000
The Joma R3000 is the first shoe with a carbon fiber plate from the Spanish brand, and its priority is to have the most affordable price on the market in this segment of flying shoes. Its level of reactivity allows you to save more energy in each stride, which helps reduce fatigue. The shoe is designed for runners with good running technique who run at fast paces; with the Joma R3000 they will be able to maintain a steady pace to reach their goals.
HOKA Arahi 6
If you are a neutral and/or pronation-prone runner looking for a training shoe to run all distances, from a 5K to a marathon, these HOKA Arahi 6 will fit you like a glove. With guaranteed cushioning and protection, this new model has a reduced weight thanks to a redesigned tongue and new, lighter and more breathable engineered mesh.
Saucony Triumph 20
Designed to tackle all kinds of distances in your daily training sessions at low to medium paces, the Saucony Triumph 20 from the American brand has top of the range cushioning. Despite the fact that the shoe has increased in volume, its performance is that of a lightweight model, which does not give up that well-studied combination of cushioning and comfort which allows runners to add mile after mile. The Saucony Triumph 20 is no doubt a candidate for best maximum cushioning shoe.
On Cloudgo
Maybe it's more a personal opinion of some of the RUNNEA TEAM members, but to date these On Cloudgo are one of the best daily training shoes you can find on the market. This model guarantees a superior level of cushioning, but with enough response to run at fast paces when your body asks for it. In addition, the sensations of running kilometers with these Cloudgo are of absolute comfort. Finally, this silhouette has the best finishes and materials of the Swiss brand, so there is little more to add!
