For me, running is not just a question of time or pace. It's that break in the day that allows me to disconnect, a moment when I find my balance and feel good. I don't run to compete, I run to feel fit, to enjoy the movement and to free my mind. Yes, I participate in some races throughout the year, but what really moves me is the well-being I feel every time I go running.
That's why, when I choose shoes, I look for comfort, versatility and that feeling that I can use them both on a light run and on a more demanding training day. This 2024 has brought me shoes that have understood just that, and after trying many, here are my five favorites. All of them have something in common: they allow me to run, feel good and enjoy the camino, no matter how many kilometers I do.

Go to the Shoe FinderRunning is my way of feeling good, and these shoes have given me just that: comfort and freedom to enjoy every mile, no matter the terrain or distance.
1. Adidas Ultraboost 5X: cushioning and lightness with a touch of style.
For me, the Adidas Ultraboost 5X has been a revelation. Not only is it a spectacularly comfortable shoe, but its design is one of those that make you want to wear them even off the asphalt. The best part? The Boost cushioning is still one of the best on the market, offering a softness and rebound that makes every step a pleasure.
They're lightweight, but that doesn't mean they lose cushioning. On the contrary, they are designed so that you can do long runs without feeling the impact on your legs. And, of course, the design is a plus. If you like to run in style, the Adidas Ultraboost 5X are a safe bet.
2. Merrell Morphlite: the perfect ally for mixing asphalt and trails.
The Merrell Morphlite is my shoe of choice when I want to run on mixed terrain. It's perfect for those days when you're not sure if you're going to run on asphalt or you want to explore dirt roads. And the best part is that it responds equally well on both terrains.
Its outsole has a spectacular grip, but it is not so aggressive that you feel uncomfortable on asphalt. It is light, flexible and, above all, super versatile. If you are one of those who do not limit themselves to running only in the city, you will love this shoe. In addition, Merrell has managed to maintain the lightness, something that is appreciated when you alternate surfaces.
3. Under Armour Infinite Elite: pure support and cushioning.
If there's one thing I look for in a shoe when I do long runs, it's that it offers the support and cushioning I need to keep my feet from getting smashed. And the Under Armour Infinite Elite more than delivers. It is a shoe designed to give maximum protection to the foot without sacrificing lightness, and that is something I value very much.
Its cushioning is one of those that you feel as soon as you put the shoe on: comfortable, soft, but with enough support to make you feel secure in every stride. If you're looking for a shoe that will take care of you over long distances, this Infinite Elite will not disappoint you.
4. Puma Velocity Nitro 3: the most versatile shoe of the year.
The PUMA Velocity Nitro 3, which has become one of my favorites because of its incredible versatility, couldn't be missing in this list. You want to do a long run? That you have a more demanding series training? It also responds without a problem. This shoe has it all: comfort, speed, cushioning and support.
The Nitro Foam compound in the midsole gives it an ideal combination of softness and responsiveness, so it adapts perfectly to any type of training. For me, it's one of those all-terrain shoes that you can use for practically everything and you know it won't let you down.
5. New Balance Fresh Foam X Balos: comfort and speed in perfect balance.
Last but not least, the New Balance Fresh Foam X Balos has been one of the most pleasant surprises of this year. This shoe combines excellent cushioning with unexpected speed, making it an ideal choice for both long runs and faster workouts.
The Fresh Foam X foam offers a soft and enveloping comfort, while still having the ability to offer nimble responsiveness when I want to push the pace a bit. It's one of those shoes that adapts to any situation, and its value for money makes it even more attractive. If you're looking for a shoe that allows you to run comfortably and fast without sacrificing comfort, the Balos is a great choice.
