The Asics Gel Nimbus 26 are without any doubt a reference in the sector of running shoes with maximum cushioning. At first glance, they might seem just a small evolution on the Nimbus 25, but in RUNNEA we want to identify several subtle changes in the new version that you as a runner will have to decide if it is worth betting on version 25 or 26.
Visually, the ASICS Nimbus 26 retains much of the aesthetics of the Nimbus 25, with a design that prioritizes the functional over the flashy, characteristics of this line. However, adjustments have been made to the upper of the shoe to optimize fit and feel. Also in the midsole design (but not in the compounds or densities) in order to provide greater stability to the model.
The most notable change can be seen in the outsole of the ASICS Nimbus 26. The incorporation of a mix of ASICSGRIP and AHAR compounds seeks to offer better traction on slippery and wet surfaces, thus overcoming one of the weaknesses we saw in the previous model. We will be able to differentiate it if we notice that now the outsole is in two colors. The central strip uses the same compound as ASICS Trabuco 12, looking for better grip and durability. So if you run in areas where it usually rains, the bet for the 26 version seems clear.
In a few simple steps we help you to choose the ideal running shoe for you.
GO TO THE RECOMMENDERAs for the midsole, the Nimbus 26 continue to use FF BLAST PLUS ECO foam, the same as in the Nimbus 15. It offers the same responsiveness and comfort. Added to this is the PUREGEL technology in the heel, adjusted to offer better shock absorption during running (which was also used in the 25 version). In addition, as we mentioned, the midsole geometry has been redesigned in search of greater stability and foot support during running.
The redesign of the upper in the Nimbus 26 aims to improve midfoot support through redesigned eyelets and a tighter fabric. The reality is that the fit and overall comfort are substantially unchanged from the previous model.
The ASICS Nimbus 26 retains the essence of its predecessors as a comfortable and secure daily training shoes for long distances. However, the new outsole composition makes the shoe safer and more durable on wet or damp terrain. It is also a bit more stable which will appeal to runners who need extra security in running.
Although the ASICS Nimbus 26 introduces some important improvements in aspects such as wet traction, there are no significant changes. At RUNNEA we understand that unless you're going to run in areas where it tends to rain, Nimbus 25 might represent a better option, especially if you find them at a good discount. And at RUNNEA we compare prices to help you find your shoe at the best price.
