The nineteenth edition of one of the great fun runs in Portugal is already here. The Portuguese city of Porto will dress up on November 3rd to welcome the runners of the EDP Porto Marathon 2024. Starting at 8:00 a.m., the runners registered in any of the 3 available modalities of the event will take the start near the famous Queimódromo.

Organized and promoted by Runporto, it will offer, as we have already mentioned, up to 3 different modalities, for those who do not dare or are not yet ready to face the 42.195 kilometers of the main event:

Family Race 10 km
Marathon 42.195 km

Course and registration information

The route of the EDP Porto Marathon 2024 will allow you to explore and get to know all the corners of an incredible city while challenging your running skills. The start and the finish line will be located in the vicinity of the Queidódromo (in the Parque Cidade do Porto) and its excellent circuit will pass through the most important points of the city, emphasizing the extensive and beautiful crossing along the banks of the Douro River under the gaze of the emblematic bridges of Luis I or Maria Pia among others.

Whether in its queen modality of 42 kilometers, as in its smaller sisters of 10 or 6 kilometers, it is an event that every runner will enjoy.

As for registration for the EDP Porto Marathon 2024, the registration period is open until October 29, 2024 in the ordinary way, but it will be possible to register even in the EXPO, always subject to availability of bibs since the total number of bibs available will be 25,000. It will also be possible to make VIP registrations for the main event, the marathon.

Results of the EDP Porto Marathon 2023

In the last edition of the EDP Porto Marathon 2023, in the men's category, the winner was the Kenyan Emmanuel Kenboi, with a time of 02:14:13. After him, Simion Tarus and Ashenafi Boja completed the podium with times of 02:14:40 and 02:15:14 respectively to take second and third place in the previous edition.

In the women's category, Ethiopia' s Tejitu Siyum Alemayehu crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 02:32:06. Behind her, Ethiopia's Sinke Dessie and Kenya's Mildred Chepkemei took second and third place with times of 02:36:17 and 02:44:33 respectively.

Registration for the Oporto Marathon 2024

The registration deadline for the EDP Porto Marathon 2024 is until October 29, 2024 and even until the day before the race at the EXPO fair, as long as there are bibs available for any of the modalities. The registration limit will be 25,000 bibs for the entire event, distributed as follows:

Distance 42.195k (Marathon): 7500 bibs available.
Distance 10k (Family Race): 7500 bibs available.
Distance 6k ( Race Fun Race): 10,000 bibs available.

In addition, it is important to know that the organization of this race, in charge of Runporto, also contemplates the VIP registration modality for the marathon race with registrations limited to the existing stock and with the following privileges:

In the 6 km race (Fun Race) participation is open to all age groups and without competitive purposes, while in the 10k race (Family Race) runners born in 2006 or earlier can take part, and in the Marathon runners born in 2004 or earlier.

Registration method

All runners who wish to participate in any of the event modalities of this new edition of the EDP Porto Marathon 2024 must do so by registering online through the official website of the race, filling out the registration form and completing, in due time and form, the corresponding registration fee.

Delivery of race bibs

The collection of the race bibs and the runner's bag will take place at the Alfandega Congress Center in Porto on the following dates and times:

Friday - November 1 - From 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. non-stop.
Saturday - November 4th - From 10:00 to 19:00 hours non-stop.

To pick up the race bib, it will be necessary to present both the registration confirmation with the race bib number and a valid identification document, such as Personal Identification Document, Identity Card, Citizen Card or Driving License. In addition, the organization will not hand out any race bib or participation kit on the day of the race.

Route of the EDP Porto Marathon 2024

The route of the EDP Porto Marathon 2024 is a luxury circuit that will take you into one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal. Runners who take part in the start of this wonderful race will be able to get to know and experience the beauty of the city while testing their running skills.

The start and the finish line will be located in the vicinity of the Queidódromo (in the Parque Cidade do Porto) and its extensive circuit will take participants through the most emblematic points of the city, among which highlights the banks of the Douro River where they will have to run several kilometers in the shadow of bridges such as Luis I or Maria Pia among others.
