A new stroke of authority from adidas in the running segment. In its quest to redefine the concept of speed, and maintain its privileged position in the ranking of the most coveted fast running shoes on the market, the brand with the three stripes has announced the launch of two new models: adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4, one of its most acclaimed models for competition; and the adidas Adizero EVO SL, which has become the fastest daily training shoe to date of the German company. In this RUNNEA Magazine article we tell you all the details about these two new members of the acclaimed Adizero family, which are ready to improve your performance as a runner looking to beat your own personal bests, running faster and more efficiently both in races and training sessions. Take note, because once you try them, you'll never run the same way again!

At RUNNEA, we had the opportunity to chat with Charlotte Heidmann, Global Running Footwear Director at Adidas, who showed us all the new features of the shoe and the big differences compared to its predecessor, the Adios Pro 3

Charlotte commented: "These shoes represent the next level of our Adizero line, combining the best features of its predecessors with innovations designed to improve performance at any level". And he also explained that the development of the Adios Pro 4 was the result of extensive testing with professional runners, ensuring that every detail met the highest standards of the world's elite.

Not sure which shoe to choose?

In a few simple steps we help you to choose the ideal running shoe for you.

GO TO THE RECOMMENDER

The Adizero range made history since its debut in 2020, achieving a total of five world records and 73 major competition victories. This impressive legacy makes the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4 a safe bet for those looking for performance and speed in one product.

Developed at the prestigious Adidas Innovation Lab in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and tested by elite runners in Kenya, Japan and the United States, the Adios Pro 4 not only improves on previous versions, but also incorporates cutting-edge technology to ensure a boost in performance.

Innovations and technologies

The novelty of these shoes is the incorporation of various technologies designed to boost running performance. Each element seems to have been precisely engineered to improve key aspects such as comfort, efficiency and stability, but with a clear goal: to help you run faster. These are the main technologies incorporated in this new model:

Forefoot rocker geometry.

This is one of the most notable innovations of the model. The forefoot of the shoe features a curved design that propels forward. This innovation, inspired by the Adios Pro Evo 1, places the rocker at 60 of the shoe's length, which generates a propulsion effect with each step, improving efficiency and allowing the runner to maintain their speed for longer without the need to apply as much effort.

This design is key to maintaining speed during marathons and long runs, where every stride counts. - Charlotte Heidmann

Lightstrike Pro Midsole

This material is not new to the Adizero range, but in this model it is optimized to provide even more cushioning and lightness. The full-length Lightstrike Pro midsole allows for a softer landing and dynamic response with every stride. For runners, this combination of lightness and support is crucial, as it minimizes impact on the joints without losing the feel of a responsive stride.

Lightlock upper

The upper of the Adios Pro 4 is designed with a lightweight yet durable mesh. The Lightlock is a one-way mesh, which allows for excellent ventilation while conforming perfectly to the foot. In addition, it includes internal bands that offer a firm and secure fit, preventing unnecessary movement inside the shoe. This will make for a more secure feel, even when running at high speeds.

Improved lacing system

Although it may seem like a minor detail, the new laces ensure a firm fit that prevents any shifting during the run. This is particularly important over long distances, where any distractions can affect your performance.

Lighttraxion Outsole

Based on studies conducted on Adidas' best runners, the outsole is designed to provide maximum traction in the most important areas of the foot. The result is improved grip on different surfaces, ensuring that the runner can maintain full control even on different surfaces or in unfavorable weather conditions.

Weighing just 200 grams for men (European size 42 ?) and 172 grams for women, these shoes are designed to be extremely lightweight, an essential for any runner looking for speed without compromising comfort or performance.

How do they differ from the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1?

While the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4 are an evolution of the Adios Pro range, it is inevitable to compare them with the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 model. This model marked a before and after, mainly because of their ultra-light weight of 138 grams, which made them a shoe focused exclusively on elite competition. They were designed to be as fast as possible, sacrificing some support and cushioning elements in order to maximize lightness.

The Adios Pro Evo 1 features minimalism. With less cushioning and support, they are designed to be extremely fast, but perhaps not the most comfortable for prolonged workouts. In contrast, the Adios Pro 4 feature a more balanced design, maintaining a great lightness but adding more cushioning thanks to Lightstrike Pro technology, making them more versatile.

The forefoot rocker system is another differentiating point between the two models. While the Evo 1 aimed for a more direct running experience, the Adios Pro 4 adds this element that improves efficiency in each stride, making them a better choice not only for racing, but also for intense training.

In short, the Adios Pro 4 is a more complete option, suitable for both racing and training, while the Evo 1 was focused on elite runners looking for maximum performance in specific races.

When will the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4 be on sale and what will be the price?

The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4 will be officially presented at the Berlin Marathon, as the new benchmark in performance footwear for runners. This will be the perfect stage to show the world the capabilities of these shoes in one of the most important and demanding races. For the general public they will be available from January 2025, with a starting price of 250€.
