Coros Vertix 2, main features
The American firm, Coros, reaffirms its commitment to include in its catalog of top-of-the-range heart rate monitors the most powerful devices in the world, in order to become a rival at the level of the best brands: Suunto, Garmin, Polar, etc.
Among its main innovations with respect to the Coros Vertix are the following:
- Screen resolution 16% higher. Its 1.4-inch screen supports up to eight data fields on a single page.
- It is 20% faster. Built from the ground up, it includes a new state-of-the-art processor that accelerates its capacity.

Review of Coros Vertix 2

TesterAutonomy of the Vertix 2 Coros: you will never walk alone
The Coros Vertix 2 was released in 2021 and is considered by many runners and trail running specialists as the only sports watch that can come to overshadow the newcomer Garmin Fenix 7 In fact in RUNNEA we have detected an increase in particular on the comparison page between the Coros Vertix 2 vs Garmin Fenix 7
For several months now, the entire Garmin fanbase has been waiting for the launch of the Garmin Fenix 7 A launch that has already taken place but that has led many to be interested in other devices on the market such as the Coros Vertix 2
The test of this new device was staged in a relay test between 6 runners: they ran on a 1km circuit for 24h. Every 30 minutes a runner entered the track and took the Vertix 2 with him. In those 24 hours a distance of 265.53km was reached.
And we have to say that this is a sports watch with GPS that has many arguments in its favor. A few months ago a copy of the Coros Vertix 2 arrived at the RUNNEA office . Not one, not two, we set up an XL all-terrain test for this XL watch. The test of this new device was staged in a relay test between 6 runners: they ran on a 1km circuit for 24h. Every 30 minutes a runner entered the track and took the Vertix 2 with him. In those 24 hours a distance of 265.53km was reached.
Autonomy of the Coros Vertix 2
The result is overwhelming; after 24 hours, 265.53 km run, only 25% of the battery had been consumed. The Coros Vertix 2 indicated that its battery was at 75%. The autonomy of the Vertix 2 lasts 3 times longer than that of its direct rival the Garmin Fenix 7 in its Solar version. 140 hours of autonomy. The test was performed in normal mode with one GPS measurement per second.
Ergonomics of the Coros Vertix 2
During this test the dial seemed to us a bit cumbersome, in fact the central button is a bit annoying and you may inadvertently activate it. It happened to us a couple of times. In fact the clock stopped for 33 minutes of our test. But, I have to say that it can be deactivated in race mode so that this does not happen. It was our fault for not having read the instructions properly before running.
Navigation through the little wheel on the central button is a pure marvel, very easy to use and pleasant with a small vibration at each change of option.
Another plus point is that the display is very large (35mm). Sure, the case is bulky, but that makes the display very generous. This is to be welcomed by runners with diminishing eyesight.
The on boarding of Coros
The user experience with a sports watch begins the moment you start it and connect it to a device. And Coros has understood this delicate moment perfectly. Almost more important than the recording of the first activity. You open the box and here you just scan a QR code, it takes you to download the App , you create your account, and it already pairs itself "et voilà".
A real marvel compared to other devices that require a real hacker to get the sports watch to communicate with the mobile or computer.
The precision of the Vertix 2
In terms of accuracy, the Coros 2 Vertix has a dual-frequency geolocation. This greatly improves accuracy. According to our calculation, distance of circuit x per number of laps, we completed 266 km in 23h27:39 (for 33 minutes we stopped the recording by pressing the central button in a relay) and the Vertix 2 recorded a distance of 265.53km.
A difference of less than 500m in 24h of effort. It is therefore clear that it outperforms the vast majority of its competitors.
Final assessment by the RUNNEA tester
In conclusion, without having delved into all the options that the Coros Vertix 2 has, we found it to be one of the best devices on the market, if not the best.
We found it to be one of the best devices on the market, if not the best.
We would have to go out and do more tests, in the mountains, test mapping, test the 20 sports modes it offers: trail, swimming, gym, trekking, biking, skiing, rowing ...
As faras running is limited, we do not see it for marathons. It is too bulky and provides many unnecessary features for marathon runners (half or 10k). Its field is trail, ultra trail, stage races such as the sabre marathon, or for 100k or 12h, 24h races... This seems to us to be the ideal purchase option at the present time.
