New Balance RunIQ

The American brand New Balance is entering the world of Heart Rate Monitors & Sports Watches with the launch of the New Balance Runiq. It is a smartwatch aimed at runners, developed in collaboration with Intel, Google and Strava.

A smartwatch designed for running

The folks at New Balance Digital Sport, a division formed in 2015 to connect consumers with cutting-edge sports technologies to enhance their athletic performance, were clear from the start that a sports relog could not be at odds with a sleek design. That's why the RunIQ watch combines features of high-end heart rate monitors with the careful styling that characterizes the Boston-based brand in its running shoes. The software development has been carried out by Intel Inside® and includes:

• Internal GPS

• Heart rate monitor

• Dedicated button for measuring intervals in the race

• Up to 5 hours of full battery life
• Up to 24 hours battery life with standard use
• RunIQ is waterproof up to 5 ATM water depth

Collaboration with Strava

Thanks to the collaboration with Strava, the New Balance RunIQ will allow runners to upload and share their workouts with the global running community.

The built-in GPS is capable of tracking the session, measuring running pace and distance covered, while the heart rate function takes care of real-time monitoring of the runner's heart rate.

Runners will also be able to sync, store and listen to Google Play music from an Android phone and stay connected to notifications from their own device in real time, or when the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

New Balance Global Run Club

Leveraging Strava technology athletes using the social network will be able through NB Run to connect with each other, track joint performance, share favorite runs and celebrate achievements with other community members.

NB Run Club athletes will also be able to participate in group and individual virtual training programs in preparation for key races and calendar sporting events, as well as virtual races against individuals and clubs.

Music Experience

Fully integrated with RunIQ, the PaceIQ is an ultra-lightweight wireless sports headset that offers premium sound quality, a secure fit and fast charging capability. They allow the user to run their workout libre and feature a dedicated button that provides real-time voice updates on performance and workout data. The PaceIQ also allows easy access to remote control for music and calls.

Starting price

RunIQ will be launched with a retail price of 375€. starting February 1st. RunIQ will be available at launch in a dual black and gray dial version along with its specific accessories (including watch bands and chargers also available).

Likewise, the PaceIQ earphones will be available on February 1 at a price of 115€ including 3 sets of EarGels, 1 FitClip and a USB charging cable.
