Runners who like to run comfortably and with great cushioning under their feet are in luck because the new version of the 361 Spire 6 is now available.

The 361 Spire 6 is a running shoe that stands out for its comfort and the incorporation of some of the best technologies developed by the brand.

Main features of the 361 Spire 6

The 361 degrees brand has been betting heavily on running during the last few seasons and, despite not having great popularity in Spain, it is becoming more and more recognized and known by runners.

The upper of the shoe is made of a mesh that has 50% of its material recycled and that provides a good fit of the foot inside the shoe, an aspect that presents a great improvement over the 361 Spire 5.

The midsole has different technologies that provide great cushioning and comfort in our workouts. It is committed to the continuity of the Quickflame foam, which provides great comfort and convenience during our workouts and Quick Spring + technology is also present.

Also note the presence of an Ortholite insole that provides extra comfort in addition to the antibacterial properties that prevent the appearance of undesirable odors that occur in our shoes.

The sole of the shoe is made of rubber with reinforcements in those areas of greatest contact with the surface to provide extra durability.

Runner profile of the 361 Spire 6

This is a shoe that can be adapted to a wide profile of runners, runners of medium weight, even high (over 75 kilos) with neutral stride technique have in the 361 Spire 6 one of their ideal shoes.

In terms of distances, you can comfortably run medium and even long distances at slow, even medium paces over which the shoe will respond adequately thanks to a good combination of cushioning and dynamism.

Technical specifications of the 361 Spire 6

In this section we highlight two important aspects, one is the weight, specifically the shoe has a weight of 307 grams in the men's version and 251 grams in the women's version. These weights are slightly higher than those of the previous version.

Regarding the drop, the shoe has a peculiar drop and profiles, since it has a drop of 9.5 mm with different profiles to other shoes of similar characteristics that we can find in the market, with 19.8 mm in the front and 293 mm in the rear.

In short, this is a shoe that will allow us to run comfortably during our daily running workouts and in those longer recovery runs or slower paces.

Review of 361º Spire 6

23 May 2024

The 361° Spire 6 is a running shoe without a carbon plate that I had the opportunity to test for the Prague Marathon in the Czech Republic. During this race, I had the joy of accompanying my father on his return to this distance. The idea was to run a marathon at a gentle pace in comfortable shoes with good cushioning, to fully enjoy the race.

First impressions

At first glance, the design looked sleek and modern to me. I tried a black model, a practical color because it matches everything and doesn't get dirty easily. These shoes are aesthetically pleasing and look functional off the go.

The 361° Spire 6 has a wide, thick sole with lightweight foam and cushioning in the heel. The abrasion-resistant rubber outsole offers optimal grip on all surfaces.

Ideal runner type for the 361° Spire 6

These Spire 6 are suitable for all types of runners, from amateurs to experienced runners. They are perfect for light jogging and long runs (from 4'30 / km). Very comfortable, they are ideal for both light and heavy runners thanks to their cushioning and heel support.

I would say they are more suitable for wide feet than for narrow feet. However, they lack reactivity and dynamism for speed sessions and split workouts.

What I liked most about this model

The breathable design and ventilation system ensure that the feet stay cool and dry during exertion, which is a great advantage in a marathon. The seams and tongue are comfortable, with no chafing, which prevents blisters and irritation.

The foam midsole offers optimal cushioning in each stride and a feeling of support and comfort. Thanks to this comfort, I was able to face the difficulties of the marathon without pain or problems, even on the numerous cobblestones of the course.

As for the sizing, they fit perfectly compared to other shoes I usually wear. After testing them before the marathon, I found that they offer incredible cushioning and maximum comfort.

Tested on both asphalt and trails, they are stable and designed to last thanks to the quality of the materials used. The rubber outsole offers exceptional grip in both dry and wet conditions.

Areas for improvement

Overall, I really liked these shoes and will continue to use them for both my recovery runs and long runs.

To improve this model, I think the weight of the shoe could be reduced to make it more competitive in the market.

Also, despite an almost perfect heel support, the front of the shoe lacks a bit of support. A modification of the lacing system from round to flat, for example, could solve this problem.

Conclusions

For my first experience with 361°, I am satisfied with the product and recommend it. These shoes are ideal for running a marathon without much pain, apart from the inevitable aches and pains. I would like to try a more dynamic model with a carbon plate.
