1 / 6The release of the adidas Adizero Boston 10 was a real revolution for the German brand's traditional collection. And now we have the new adidas Adizero Boston 11, with only a few modifications given the previous version's massive changes. We present the adidas Adizero Boston 11, the latest update of one of the most outstanding running shoes from the three-stripe brand.
The release of the adidas Adizero Boston 11 running shoes is one of this year's most eagerly anticipated by the fastest runners who are looking to improve their records in short and long distances. This hybrid shoe for quality training and competitions has excellent cushioning that features the German firm's latest technologies. It aims to encourage runners with a refined running technique to achieve maximum speed.
Main features of the adidas Adizero Boston 11
The adidas Adizero Boston 11 has been created to achieve maximum speed on both roads and running tracks. Designed as a training shoe for series, fartlek and pace changes, it is one of the brand's fastest options for runners eager to run for miles at competition speeds.
The adidas Adizero Boston 11 has few changes and it's a continuation of its predecessor; the adidas Adizero Boston 10, a model that marked a turning point for this iconic series by including some of adidas Running's most cutting-edge technologies.
On the one hand, we have the combination of Lightstrike Pro and Lightstrike EVA technologies, offering greater lightness, cushioning and resistance. On the other hand, the EnergyRods carbon rods, inspired by the bone structure of the foot, accentuate the feeling of lightness and firmness in the midsole. A technical framework that returns once again in this 11th edition.
This running shoe's aesthetic is another major appeal. Its competitive character is reflected in a lightweight and very, very breathable upper. It seems that this eleventh iteration will have only a few changes in this strategic area of the trainer.
The Boston 11 continues to rely on the Continental™ rubber compound in order to provide exceptional grip. It is important to note that this is a running shoe designed for road and track training.
What's new in the adidas Adizero Boston 11?
The changes as we mentioned are minimal, in fact they are almost all related to aesthetics:
- New reinforcement configuration in the toe area.
- Incorporation of a pull-tab with a fold in the heel area to facilitate quicker step-in (perhaps with triathlon transitions in mind).
- The tongue is somewhat more stylised and wider.
- Its weight is practically the same (2 grams lighter than the previous version)
The adidas Adizero Boston 11 is without a doubt one of the most awaited releases of the year by the fastest runners. This new update is already available on the market, but remember to compare prices at RUNNEA before you buy it.

adidas Adizero Boston 11, different running shoes according to your running style at a specific pace
In March 2023, adidas organized a global event in the French capital, which included the Paris half marathon as a summit. For four days, adidas presented the latest additions to its running range to the specialized press from all over the world.
RUNNEA, as international media, had the opportunity to attend the event and gather information and see new material. Jorge García, who lived those days in person, came back with suitcases full of new products. So I had the opportunity to test the new adidas Adizero Boston 11 The test that I have done has lasted five weeks in March and April. I participated in a 10 k, and I was preparing for the Paris marathon. This allowed me to test the Boston 11 in a variety of training scenarios: series, fartlek, running and long runs.
I don't usually run with running shoes with a carbon plate, because I don't train at fast enough paces to take advantage of the plate. Also, I don't want to feel undynamic going back to conventional shoes after using a shoe with a carbon plate. And finally, to be totally transparent with you, I feel a lack of legitimacy due to my race times.
The carbon plates are beyond me, but I thought the fiberglass EnergyRods might be interesting for my running profile. So I give you first hand my sensations during this test.
What type of runner are the adidas Adizero Boston 11 recommended for?
Rather than what type of runner they are recommended for, I would say for what type of exercise they apply to. Adidas tells us that it is for runners up to 75kg / 80 kilos to run from 5k to marathon. It fit this runner profile perfectly. I weigh between 75kg and 80kg, and for the test of these fast running shoes I have run from 10k to marathon long runs.
My perception has been that they are totally different shoes depending on the pace at which you run. Rather, depending on how you run at a given pace.
In my fast paces, I run with a midfoot landing and a long stride. In this case, the shoes behave wonderfully. They are stable, cushioned and tremendously responsive, provided by the thrust of the 5 EnergyRods fiberglass rods.
On my long runs at slower paces, I tend to go in much more heel-toe and with shorter strides. Here I had to cut one run short. My calves were loaded, the shoe offered no cushioning, no response. They maintained stability, but era not at all comfortable to run in.
So it doesn't matter the pace, it matters how you run, if it's long strides and you come in midfoot, you're going to love this shoes. However, if you tend to heel and have a short stride, I do not recommend this model.
Be careful, our running style may depend on our pace. For example, in my case, as I mentioned, in 4:30-4:40 paces I have been doing very well. Now when I went out at 5:15 very calm pace, marathon, I have not liked them.
What did we like most about the adidas Adizero Boston 11?
The answer to the question is quite simple: if you do long strides and enter mid-foot you have excellent response, good cushioning and very secure stability. Cushioning, stability, responsiveness, it's not easy to combine those 3 features. In general, if you excel in one, the others are diminished. With a minimum of material, with some cushioned reinforcements positioned in strategic points, they have achieved a perfect union, which is necessary when running at fast paces.
Finally, the Continental grip, which in both dry and wet conditions, does not scare at all.
Are there opportunities for improvement in the adidas Adizero Boston 11?
First of all, we could ask ourselves if the adidas running Adizero Boston 11 are really necessary, since it presented few changes compared to its previous version, the adidas Adizero Boston 10 The possible improvement could be a better performance at slower paces, but without changing the advantages at higher paces? Maybe it is impossible, and it is necessary to consider having these shoe for high paces and others for slower ones.
In fact, whenever I meet shoes development engineers or products managers, I always ask them about the use of this type of shoes. The answer is unanimous:
These shoes have to be worn once or twice a week, the rest of the time go with shoes without plates.
Anyway, to improve the fit of Adizero Boston 11 is not an easy thing to do. The shoe is a little bit too small to get into it. But then once inside, it's perfect. There is enough room for comfort, but also to ensure a good fit.
Final conclusions about the adidas Adizero Boston 11
Well, I have to put aside my feeling of lack of legitimacy, as I plan to continue running with the adidas Adizero Boston 11 At least one fast training session per week, and, without a doubt, in 10k races in which I can hang a bib on my chest.
