Award to the editorial staff's and testers' favourite models

It is no surprise that the launch of the most anticipated running shoes of the year has huge expectations. The adidas Ultraboost 21 is continuing its progressive evolution and, as the German firm's flagship, it has undergone radical changes in both aesthetics and performance which we at the RUNNEA editorial team will try to break down for you. Let's take a closer look at the best-selling model for road running and its improvements, of which there are many.

Since its arrival on the market back in 2015, the legendary adidas Ultraboost is a clear example of innovation and permanent development, because, edition after edition, the renowned three-stripe brand takes advantage of the launch of the adidas Ultraboost 21 running shoes to highlight its latest generation technologies and its most cutting-edge materials to improve the running sensations of neutral-gait runners accustomed to a high volume of kilometres in each running session. By the way, pay maximum attention to the heel area.

What's new in the adidas Ultraboost 21?

Adidas Ultraboost 21

The renewed adidas Ultraboost 21 have many notable improvements, in terms of both the performance aspect and aesthetically. All of these have been adjusted following a comprehensive redesign of the trainer. Whilst there are aspects that remain the same or similar, there are also aspects that have changed completely from what we have seen in previous versions of this legendary daily training shoe. It has been reinvented to remain a benchmark in long-distance running shoes.

There are two key points worth mentioning about the adidas Ultraboost 21 that make for some important percentages:

  • A 15% increase in the degree of flexion stiffness in the forefoot area through the incorporation of the innovative LEP (Linear Energy Push) system from adidas, and which comes to reinforce the reactivity of the model.
  • The new design features 6% more BOOST foam, and is accompanied by a new design in the heel area, which creates a very exaggerated curve. The result: a higher degree of comfort and superior energy return, a trademark of the German company.

It should also be noted that the cushioning capacity of this adidas trainer has been optimised to offer a perfect balance between comfort and support in each stride.

User profile for the new adidas Ultra Boost 21

As for the upper of this new Ultraboost 21 update, it includesa technical mesh made with a more precise and supportive fabric, the evolved PRIMEKNIT+, providing more comfort and lightness in the forefoot. The fit of this strategic point is supported by the TPU molds superimposed on transparent synthetic material, which represent adidas Running's characteristic three-stripe logo.

In addition, another unmissable detail in the adidas Ultraboost 21 is the sustainable material called PRIMEBLUE. This technological resource highlights the value of the high-performance recycled material with the Parley Ocean Plastic seal, a thread created from plastic collected before it reaches the depths of the oceans, showing the German brand's commitment to sustainability. This material has been implemented in many of its models since 2015.

In addition, the trainer incorporates a molded heel for significantly improved support and stability.

Despite all the important new features of the new adidas Ultra Boost 21, the model has not lost its iconic running shoe spirit, and will retain its target audience, a daily training shoe for men and women with neutral running gait, as well as a trainer for running all kinds of distances, and at different paces. Will the adidas Ultraboost 21 maintain its status as a coveted running shoe for runners who prioritise maximum cushioning, responsiveness and comfort? At RUNNEA we have no doubts, and we're confident they will deliver.
