The sixth edition of the Brooks trail running shoes arrives with a couple of changes in relation to the previous version; it seems that in each release Brooks modifies the exterior design of the shoe to better adapt it to the demands of technical terrain and this time the Brooks PureGrit 6 offers an interesting renovation that gives them a softer and lighter appearance but maintains its functionality.

Brooks puregrit 6

With their 4 mm drop the shoes promise a good ground feel and are advertised as lightweight shoes that have the ability to adapt to all types of surfaces. In practice, thanks to their characteristics, the PureGrit can be used without any problems on asphalt, dirt, cross-country, stone and muddy surfaces.

Upper of the Brooks Puregrit 6

For this new edition, Brooks uses a material that improves the fit of the shoe and makes it less restrictive than previous versions. The new material has more elastic characteristics but at the same time fits the foot properly, this allows for a more natural movement without the foot feeling trapped inside the shoe.

The synthetic prints that were found all around the shoe have been replaced with a dotted print that allows more freedom of movement to the foot and also provides greater flexibility to the entire shoe. This synthetic print also offers a barrier against dust, water and loose material encountered during the run.

Midsole

The Brooks PureGrit 6 shoes utilize the midsole with BioMoGo DNA technology which allows the cushioning system to function differently according to the demands of the run. In technical terrain, a different pressure is exerted on the shoes depending on the movements, speed or material being stepped on; this technology makes the midsole adapt to the pressure exerted and return the energy in the same proportion to facilitate take-off.

A feature of this material is that it is made from recycled components, making it an environmentally friendly option that Brooks continues to implement in all of its latest shoe lines.

Between this midsole and the outsole is a layer of EVA rubber that is meant to prevent stepping on rock or loose material from causing any discomfort to the foot, however it also maintains a good ground feel.

Omega Flex Grooves technology is also part of the midsole and consists of grooves that facilitate the flexibility of the shoe so that the movements of the foot are as natural as possible and respond better to difficult terrain.

Outsole

The outsoles of the Brooks PureGrit 6 continue to use the hexagonal lug pattern, which extends across the entire surface. This pattern allows the shoes to improve traction on different types of terrain, making the running experience more enjoyable.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the PureGrit 6 is a responsive shoe for a variety of moderate-difficulty terrain. Neutral runners will benefit the most from its low drop construction. However, its cushioning technologies and rugged material design withstand many of the demands of trail running well, they are considered an ideal shoe for beginners or those who will not subject the shoes to overly technical conditions.
