Brooks Revel

2017 arrives with the launch of a new line of Brooks running shoes, the Brooks Revel, a shoe with which the company intends to enter the taste of those who prefer a versatile shoe with which not only good features are obtained during running, but also a good option to take them to other sports practices or even to use them as casual shoes for a Sunday outing.

While we can then say that they will be comfortable shoes at all times, the firm has designed them within itsSpeed" line, so they are originally designed for flying. Ideal for quality training or for faster races over medium to long distances, mainly for runners of medium or light build.

Brooks will keep many of its technologies that have already proven successful in other editions of shoes, making the main leap for this edition in terms of design, with a more modern or "street" style.

Upper

The material used in the upper leaves behind the mesh and synthetics that had been seen in the other Brooks lines and is replaced by a kind of fabric that gives a fairly soft and comfortable look to the shoe. In addition to the purely aesthetic, the material fits more snugly to the foot and thanks to its elasticity also offers greater freedom of movement.

To maintain the structure of the Brooks Revel shoe, heat-sealed synthetic overlays are used on the sides, which are attached to the lacing system to custom fit the shoe. The tongue and laces feature a pattern that matches the rest of the upper design, but also allows the shoe to close properly by wrapping around the foot.

Midsole

To give cushioning to the shoe, a compound that Brooks is already famous for, the BioMoGo DNA material, is used. In a multi-purpose shoe, the types of pressure that the foot will exert on the surface will be very varied and this compound allows the midsole of the shoe to adapt differently according to the pressure exerted. While running, this foam also facilitates a return of energy in the same proportion to the pressure exerted, which will be noticeable in a smoother take-off.

Underneath this material, the use of a traditional EVA rubber layer is maintained, which provides greater durability by functioning as an additional protection between the outsole and the midsole. All this is complemented by the Omega Flex Grooves system, grooves through the midsole that facilitate the shoe's flexibility.

Outsole

The outsoles of the Brooks Revel also incorporate different technologies to achieve good traction and durability. High-strength rubber is reinforced in the areas most prone to wear, such as the heel and toe. To improve traction and flexibility, multi-directional grooves are incorporated, leaving the midfoot area libre for the heel and forefoot to move independently.
