HOKA Mafate Speed

The French shoe company Hoka One One has recently introduced the Mafate Speed, an evolution of the Mafate trail running shoe that incorporates some new features but retains the line of its predecessor. A lightweight shoe, with good cushioning and extra protection.

The Hoka One One Mafate Speed is perfect for those trail runners with a strong constitution who want to run long distances and are looking for extra protection for their feet and knees. A shoe weighing 320 grams, ideal for tracks and trails with a good surface, as long as the terrain is not too technical.

Midsole

The main feature of the Hoka One One Mafate Speed is the large volume of the midsole and outsole of this trail running shoe. The oversizing minimizes the impact on each step, offering a buoyant feel and reducing fatigue on your legs and feet. The midsole geometry features a pronounced rocker, designed for easy toe-off.

Despite its bulky sole, 35 mm in the heel and 31 mm in the forefoot, with a 4 mmdrop, it is able to offer the trail runner a natural stride, favoring transition, landing and take-off.

Outsole

The outsole is made of R-MAT, a rubber with new features compared to its predecessor that provides greater rebound and durability against wear caused by the passage of kilometers. On the other hand, the pronounced lugs arranged in different directions favor grip on wet and slippery surfaces.

Upper

The upper is constructed with a 3D mesh and reinforced with thermosealing to offer greater stability and protection. The toe of this upper is also reinforced. The heel area incorporates a 'K' shaped piece to provide greater support. The laces have a quick lacing system.
