Kailas Fuga EX 3, a very reliable all-rounder that surprises for the better.
Kailas, that's the name of the revolution at this moment, if you are looking for a new model to run in mountain terrain. This new Chinese brand was born just over two years ago, and has arrived in our territory stomping. It is growing and becoming known fast and it is not for less.
As always, thanks to RUNNEA, I had the opportunity to test the new model of the Kailas Fuga EX 3. I can already tell you that it is a real "sneaker".
Runner profile of the Kailas Fuga EX 3
These Kailas Fuga EX 3 are not a shoe to run fast in a race or to run at high paces, nor for extremely technical terrain I would say.
However, they are cushioned and provide infinite comfort for long runs and can also be the ideal shoe for those who are new to the trail running world.
What I liked most about the Kailas Fugaz EX 3
Starting with the midsole, Kailas has decided to incorporate to this model an exclusive Eccevai compound, which together with a high drop of 8 millimeters provides a cushioned and reactive tread. Something that is appreciated over the kilometers, because it is able to ensure a constant degree of comfort.
Continuing with the outsole, as it could not be otherwise, its great versatility comes into play. It is composed of a Vibram Megragrip outsole, and if there is one thing we know, it is that the Vibram outsole is synonymous of confidence and safety on descents.
I also emphasize that its triangular tread pattern in the front area will also be of great help on steep climbs or on other more technical ways where we need that front grip.
Another strong point of this Kailas shoe is the lacing system. Double adjustment, one in the front area adjusting the foot that could be fixed and not move it; and another at the top that we use to remove and put on the shoe.
With the correct use it is appreciated that the foot has no escape and is subject to 100%.
Summarizing, the advantages of these Kailas Fuga EX 3:

They are those trail shoes that you take without thinking when you don't know what terrain you're going to find, because you know they will respond to your needs.
Opportunities for improvement in the Kailas Fuga EX 3
If we were looking for any downside to this all-terrain shoe it would be a slight tendency to heel strike. Due to the high heel drop and the overall weight of the shoe (295 grams), as a pronator or even in lightweight runners you can appreciate that the shoe has weight in that area, which is minimal but uphill it can hold quite a bit.

Don't be fooled by their apparent simplicity! The Kailas Fuga EX3 are very reliable. Of course, we don't always need a trail running shoe that boasts a thousand technologies or revolutionary features; sometimes, what we're looking for is pure and simple reliability. And you know what? These Kailas deliver on that premise.
I'm telling you from experience: these Kailas shoes are like that all-rounder that won't let you down even on the toughest trail. They don't stand out for being the most cushioned, nor the lightest, nor the most aggressive, but... so what? Their magic is that they do everything well, and believe me, that's more valuable than it seems.
If you ask me, the Kailas Fuga EX3 is proof positive that sometimes, less is more. Kailas has created a mountain running shoe that, without fanfare or fireworks, will become your best ally in the mountains.

The Kailas Fuga EX 3 surprise from the first moment by its maximalist and technical design, clearly born to run in difficult terrain of trail, with a weight of 285 grams (size 43) and a drop of 8 mm, are framed within the type of specific footwear for mountain running that balances protection with lightness.
These trail running shoes Kailas Fuga EX 3 are sold in different colors, and that is a positive fact. As soon as I put them on I noticed that the fit is perfect, thanks to its double lacing system. This is a detail that I would like to point out because it is very new and easy to do.

These Kailas Fuga Ex 3 meet all the requirements to be able to recommend them for people weighing between 70/85 kilos who want to make their training and competitions of medium and long distance a real enjoyment.
These shoes from the Chinese brand with advanced technology of the Fuga series are also ideal for people with lower weights than those mentioned above for medium and long distance training.
The 8 mm drop is also suitable for runners looking for a natural foot position, but not so low as to sacrifice midsole protection on rough terrain.
What we liked most about the Kailas Fuga EX 3
The Vibram Megagrip outsole with prominent lugging is, without a doubt, one of the strong points I'd like to highlight about this version of the Kailas Fuga EX 3. It offers excellent traction on any surface, be it wet rock, loose terrain or even mud, providing great confidence both on steep descents and technical climbs.
On the other hand, I would also like to highlight its quick lacing system divided into 2 parts for a total subjection of our foot and with a side eyelet for a quicker removal.
The upper is made of breathable mesh, comfortable, with an essential quality to maintain the ventilation of the foot even during long runs. In addition, it comes with a reinforced anti-scratch toe cap. All this, together with the reinforced toe cap, makes the shoe provide solid protection on rocky terrain with loose roots.

Importantly, at 285 grams, the weight comes back to bite if we want to use these shoes for short-distance competitions. However, these Kailas Fuga EX 3 are ideal for both mid and long distance training and competitions.
