Review of Merrell Agility Peak 4 GORE-TEX

Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX, a safe valor for your winter adventures in the mountains

Has it ever happened to you that you are reluctant to try something out of ignorance, and once you try it, you are surprised? I can assure you 100% that this has happened to me with the new Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX and I can assure you that they behave very well in any terrain, giving that feeling of security that we need so much to face a long distance mountain race, or in those demanding outings with rain, mud, and even snow.

A 10 for this chassis giving you unbeatable stability, with a lightweight dual density midsole and excellent grip. This is a very versatile and versatile trail running shoe.

A surevalor to face from the most demanding hiking trails to the mountain races of medium and long distance on terrain with some technicality.

What kind of runners are the Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX for?

Runners of medium-high weight, runners looking for a good balance between comfort, fit, cushioning and safety without the need to be an expert.

It is also a very valid option for those walkers and hikers who want to enjoy nature to the fullest, even on cold and rainy winter days.

What did I like most about the Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX?

We found a GTX membrane in the upper of this trail shoe from Merrell, which allows us to enjoy our workouts and races while continuing to perform, as it does not allow water to pass through, but it does allow the foot to perspire, a fact to be taken into account.

Another point in favor of these Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX, is the tongue that is also made with Gore-Tex, its fixation is perfect, (does not move) and is part of the structure of the shoe as if it were a booty, is fluffy helping a very good fit of the laces.

The laces pass through four lateral points inserting into the midsole indicating an excellent fit so that we run very safe for our mountains.
Its interior insole is made of Eva material, with 4mm of thickness, giving a good sensation to the foot.

Merrell has opted for a light and very resistant Floatpro midsole with a higher density in the heel area and a little lower throughout the rest.
It also incorporates FlexConnect so that the midsole flexes more easily and does not give us that feeling of stiffness.

In the rear, we can highlight a strip that at first glance looks great with the design of the shoe, but also comes in handy when we go out on those days of cold, rain ... and we have to take off our shoes (to remove something inside the shoe, like a pebble, branch ...). This helps us to put our shoes back on much faster and you know that it usually costs and more with wet hands, cold ....

It has a 5mm deep lugs, with multidirectional lugs, which allows us an unbeatable grip on wet and damp terrain, daring to say that it is one of the most complete soles I've tested. We can not miss its two attachment points to be able to attach gaiters if necessary (more appropriate for those hiking trails).

One of the things that I liked the most is its Vibram Megagrip outsole, as it achieves a perfect balance in this shoe, giving the runner a grip and resistance in all types of terrain; both wet and dry.

In the front part of the upper, it has a ring and the second point that is surprisingly hard to see, is located in the heel area and consists of a strip of Velcro integrated with much dissimulation, with which when pulling it we will catch the gaiter. I would recommend this model for completing long distances or for those hiking routes in adverse weather conditions.

Opportunities for improvement of the Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX

As a negative point, we can talk about its weight, since we are talking about a shoe with Gore-Tex and that makes its weight go from having those 301g of its sister without gore-tex to about 355g of this new version. Frankly, something excessive compared to what I'm used to.

With which models can we compare the Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX?

Merrell Agility Peak 4 GTX Final Conclusions

RecommendedShoe for runners and hikers who want exquisite comfort. With good fit and cushioning, for those outings so demanding regardless of the weather that we find ourselves, as it has a Gore-Tex membrane, which not only does not let the water pass, if not let the foot transpire at all times.

A 10 for this chassis giving you anunbeatable stability, with a lightweight dual density midsole and excellent grip. What more can we ask for?
