The New Balance 1400 series is one of those multipurpose options that can be used for short distance races, or also for long distance events, such as a half marathon. It's always ready for action and ready to go. Thus, in the fifth version of the New Balance 1400 the sensations remain the same as those of its predecessor, but with notable improvements in terms of breathability and comfort.
The hallmarks of the New Balance 1400 v5 are a great cushioning, which is presented in a lightweight support model with an attractive, more transparent design.
In this way, the upper of the fifth installment of the NB 1400 brings with it a renewed engineered mesh, which contributes to wrap the midfoot area, providing more flexibility and softness than in the New Balance 1400 v4. But the inclusion of this engineered mesh also allows for improved breathability, while managing to reduce the weight of this running shoe by a few grams less.
As for the midsole, the cushioning capacity of the New Balance 1400 v5 remains identical to that of the previous model in the series. Here, RevLite foam continues to be the star material, capable of providing the cushioning needed to run more efficiently, smoothly and at a faster pace, even for distances up to the mythical 42,195 meters of the marathon.
Regarding the outsole configuration, the New Balance 1400 v5, once again, resorts to the blown rubber compound, because it ensures better traction and greater resistance to wear. Two aspects that contribute to give more confidence to the runner, as he accelerates the pace on the asphalt.
With a 10-millimeterdrop and an approximate weight of 205 grams for the men's version (size 9 USA -42.5EU-) and 173 grams for the women's model (size 6 USA -36.5EU-), the New Balance 1400 v5 is presented as an optimal alternative for runners with a neutral stride and medium-light weight, ready and prepared to give the best performance in quality training and competition.
