Nike s Wildhorse line offers more and more improvements compared to its predecessors, a sign that the company is constantly seeking to provide athletes with the best performance. In the case of the Nike Air Zoom Wildhorse 4, we will see the renovation in the upper, which this time has incorporated the Flywire Cables technology in a visible way, which allows a better support of the foot.
Designed for trail running, this shoe provides runners with maximum support and an impressive and comfortable safety in movements. Thanks to its soles we get all the traction and grip needed to venture even in wet or difficult terrain.
A double-layer, highly durable mesh covers practically the entire upper. This type of mesh offers better ventilation without sacrificing the shoe's resistance to the rough conditions of technical terrain. Some heat-sealed synthetic overlays are strategically placed to provide better structure to the shoe.
As mentioned above, the main change from the previous edition is the incorporation of the Flywire Cables visible technology, which consists of cables that are added on the sides of the shoe, starting from the midsole and joining directly with the lacing system; this allows the closing of the shoe to achieve a better fit in the midfoot which the runner can customize.
In the previous edition these cables were underneath one of the mesh layers of the upper, however for this shoe, the first three cables are left exposed and covered by the synthetic side layer, which gives a more modern style to the shoe.
On the inside we find an insole made of molded EVA, which provides greater comfort and also helps to promote fit.
There are two components that make up the midsole of the Nike Air Zoom Wildhorse 4 First is the iconic Zoom Air unit in the heel, which provides compression on impact and then returns to its original shape to provide better energy return to optimize the responsiveness of the run.
While this unit compresses, it also absorbs much of the shock produced at ground contact to soften the impact of landing. The second system is the Phylon rubber, which is very durable and resistant despite being lightweight; this rubber layer is in charge of cushioning the feet and offering a more comfortable run.
The outsole features a waffle pattern which has proven its reliability since previous editions. Quite prominent lugs are present on the outsoles so that the shoes can adapt to rough terrain. Combining a "sticky" rubber in many areas of the outsole, along with a carbon rubber covering the high impact areas, the outsole achieves an excellent combination of functionality and durability.
Nike maintains the fit seen in the previous edition of the shoe, which era slightly wider than in previous models. The purpose of this is to allow more room for the toes to accommodate; when we exercise our feet naturally experience some swelling, so this roomier fit will keep the shoe comfortable even on long runs. Comfort and protection are two of the important points in the Nike Air Zoom Wildhorse 4.
