With a very affordable price the Nike Flex RN 2016 shoes are characterized by a flexible design that gives a very light feeling when running.
A real glove for the foot. The breathability is excellent and that intensifies the feeling of lightness of the shoe, although if you have a wide foot you may feel it as excessively narrow and tight.
The 2016 version of the Nike Flex RN uses Flywire laces as the most significant innovation. This lacing system is a great help in keeping the foot always firm without the need for too many overlays that could lead to foot irritation with frequent use.
With Flywire laces, Nike also uses a very lightweight one-piece mesh for breathability, support and security that is not restrictive. Gone are the seams and replaced with heat seals to prevent chafing.
Another change implemented is that the heel receives a little help through the addition of welded overlays. These welded overlays are quite flexible, so there is enough heel support without too much stiffness.
The fit of the Nike Flex RN 2016 allows for a snug fit from the heel to the forefoot. Runners will be able to experience better midfoot support courtesy of the Flywire laces. There is enough room for the toes to move laterally while still feeling secure.
Underfoot features Nike s unique and proven outsole with the Tri-Star configurations scattered throughout that gives the Flex RN 2016 a lot of flexibility. The design has numerous cutouts all over the outsole; the heel and the area underneath the big toe are covered with hard carbon rubber that provides durability while blown rubber makes up the rest of the outsole.
The midsole is designed with Nikes proprietary Phylon foam, this midsole possesses the necessary characteristics to ensure consistency in the cushioning system, responsiveness and above all great durability. As the foam covers the entire midsole, movement is enhanced throughout the course of the run.
The light weight of this shoe is its main feature, thanks to the engineering used in the mesh design, it offers exceptional breathability and a "sock-like" fit. Nike uses Flywire laces for the first time in this series to help with midfoot security which provides a "locked-in" feel (it is possible to feel the support and lockdown of the midfoot).
Welded overlays also help with support and structure, while the ankle collar and tongue have decent cushioning. The Nike Flex RN 2016 stands out as a comfortable shoe with good midfoot support, ideal for neutral pronators and mid-distance running.
