The Nike Free 5.0+ Men's Running shoes provides the strengthening benefits of a more natural stride, along with the cushioning, traction and foot protection of a traditional Running shoes shoe.
The flex-friendly grooved outsole, made with deep grooves throughout the midsole, enhances a more natural freedom of movement, promotes a more relaxed foot strike transition, and helps maintain stability.
It features the highest offset offered by Nike Free Running shoes, with an 8mm difference between heel and forefoot height for increased cushioning while still encouraging a natural stride. In addition, the Phylite midsole material is durable enough to serve as an outsole, which significantly reduces the weight of the Running shoes.
This latest version of Flywire consists of a set of filaments positioned in such a way that they function like the cables of a suspension bridge. They offer optimal support where it is needed. These sturdy strands are applied to the minimalist design of the shoe's uppers, reducing weight to create the lightest shoe.
After realizing that a group of Stanford runners had been training barefoot on the university's golf campo, three of Nike s most innovative and creative employees decided to develop Running shoes that would provide a form of running as close as possible to barefoot running while being lightweight and comfortable, looking for a natural feel. In 2002, they tested a group of men and women using pressure-measuring insoles attached to their feet and high-speed cameras to capture images of the feet in motion.
After 8 years of studying the biomechanical aspects of running without Running shoes, the results provided an in-depth understanding of the natural landing in the foot's motion when executing the stride, as well as the pressure and position of the toes, which gave Nike designers the opportunity to create an unconventional, highly flexible Running shoes from scratch.
