1 / 5Video Nike Juniper Trail 2 GORE-TEX
The Nike Juniper Trail 2 GORE-TEX model is a clear example of how trail running shoes have evolved. Adjusting to unfavorable environments and climates and making all trails suitable for training.
These trail running shoes from the American brand are made for running in nature, whether in the mountains or on trails. That's why they have incorporated a GORE-TEX layer, so that the person going out to train won't have any problems with rain or ground moisture.
Features of the Nike Juniper Trail 2 GORE-TEX
As we mentioned before, the GORE-TEX technology is the main feature of these shoes. It is a membrane located in the upper of the model, this is composed of millions of pores that make it one hundred percent waterproof and protect the runner from the wind. In addition, this technology is breathable and keeps the toes and feet warm. The famous Nike brand applied this technology to make these shoes a reliable trail running shoes to train on bad weather days.
Also remarkable is the ankle area, they have used a marbled foam to keep warm and prevent dirt and water from entering the shoe. This way they manage to cover one of the weakest areas and achieve a waterproofing that the runner notices in every outing. To finish talking about the top of the model the laces have integrated Flywire cables, accompanied by the inner sleeve fits the foot as if it were a sock. Providing security and a perfect fit, especially in the midfoot.
The midsole is made with a soft and cushioned foam for the runner's comfort. This part of the model is very similar to the Nike Juniper Trail 2 model, as we said before the noticeable changes are in the upper.
The outsole is composed of a generative traction pattern combined with rubber lugs to provide excellent grip for going up and down hills. They offer considerable grip and provide smoother transitions.
It is not new for brands to use recycled materials to contribute to a responsible manufacturing method by decreasing the carbon footprint. The Juniper Trail 2 GORE-TEX are created exclusively from reused plastics, yarns and fabrics.
Ideal Nike Juniper Trail 2 GORE-TEX profile
As we defined the previous model, these shoes are designed for training in nature. Aimed at runners who are just starting out or for light jogging, it is a model that fits a wide range of runners.
Running at leisurely paces, the Juniper Trail 2 GORE-TEX are suitable for everything from the most compact terrain to the most technical trails. After all, they are perfect trail running shoes to start and evolve in this type of training as technical as trail training.

Protection and stability for winter: Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex, your allies to get started in trail running
The Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex will become one of my ideal companions for winter training days, as they will be perfect for running in rain, cold and mud. These shoes have been a great surprise, as I liked the result they have given me both on muddy trails and compact terrain. They are a reliable option for those who, like me, are looking for a shoe that is durable, comfortable and offers good protection.
First feelings running with the Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex
The Nike Juniper Trail 2 GTX are trail running shoes designed for those who are starting out in this world and are looking for a reliable model to run on trails and compact terrain, i.e. solid and stable surfaces that do not have too many irregularities or are loose or slippery. We can place them within the "Door to Trail" segment, that is, you can use them both on asphalt and trail, which makes them very versatile. Their main strength is the Gore-Tex membrane, which makes them an ideal option for running in rainy weather and keeping your feet dry.
Weighing 318 grams for the men's model (size 44) and 225 grams for the women's (size 39), they are not the lightest shoes on the market, but that gives them a plus in stability. The 9.5 mm drop, which is relatively high, has been very comfortable for long distance races, as it helps cushion the impact when fatigue starts to take its toll. The outsole has 3 mm lugs, enough to offer good grip on easy terrain without being too aggressive.
Who is the Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex for?
These shoes are perfect for runners who are just starting out in trail running or who practice it occasionally. If your runs tend to be on less technical terrain, where compact terrain predominates and there are no major inclines or obstacles, the Nike Juniper Trail 2 will be an excellent choice.
They work especially well in short and medium distances, as the cushioning is adequate for this type of outings.
An important point to note is that these shoes favor runners who tend towards the heel, as they have large, very flexible reinforcements in the heel, which provide an extra sense of stability and comfort with every step. In addition, the toe reinforcements not only protect the foot from potential shock, but also increase the durability of the shoe, making them a sturdy option for use on harder, rockier terrain.
That said, I would not recommend them for very long runs or for those who run metatarsal, as the firmness of the midsole can become a bit stiff after several hours of use. If your runs go on for hours, you may find that the lack of extra cushioning starts to become a drawback. However, for those who tend to run heel-toe or those who are heavier, these shoes are very stable and provide great foot protection.
This model is also ideal for heavier runners, as the sturdy and stable design handles the extra impact well, but it is still a shoe for a wide range of runners, regardless of their weight or level of trail running experience.
What I liked the most about the Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex
Waterproof
One of the things that impressed me the most about the Nike Juniper Trail 2 GTX is its ability to keep your feet dry. The Gore-Tex membrane not only does an excellent job of keeping water out, but it also allows for good breathability. Despite heavy rain or trudging through puddles, my feet have remained dry at all times, which is essential when running in cold conditions.
It's the difference between finishing a race with comfortable feet or suffering from blisters due to wetness.
Stability
Another highlight is the stability it offers. Thanks to its wide midsole, I feel very secure running even on more unstable terrain. The reinforced heel and toe cap also provide a feeling of extra protection which, personally, reassures me when running on trails where it is easy to trip or step on loose stones. In addition, the Flywire laces, integrated into the shoe, fit the foot very nicely, and offer a snug fit that feels like you're wearing a sock.
Durability
Durability is also a plus. These shoes are built to last. The thick mesh upper and reinforcements in key areas, such as the toe cap, ensure that they don't wear out quickly, something I value highly in a trail shoe.
Possible improvements
While the Nike Juniper Trail 2 GTX have many positives, there are a few areas where they could use improvement. The first is agility. Due to the wide midsole and sturdy construction, they are not the most agile shoes for more technical or steep terrain. While on easy trails they work great, when I tackled trails with lots of loose rocks or steep climbs, I noticed that they lacked a bit of flexibility and quick responsiveness. This makes them not the best choice if you are looking for something for more complicated routes.
Another point to keep in mind is that, having a thick and tough mesh, these shoes tend to retain heat, so they're not recommended for warm days. They are definitely an ideal choice for winter, but not when temperatures start to rise.
Finally, if you're looking for more energy return on asphalt sections or when the pace increased, a softer experience or better momentum in each stride, perhaps models like the Nike Pegasus Trail 4 GTX offer a softer, more responsive experience.

These 5 shoes could be considered direct competitors to the Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex, especially for waterproofing, stability and trail running use:
Why should you buy the Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex?
In short, the Nike Juniper Trail 2 Gore-Tex is a rugged, reliable and secure shoe, ideal for those looking to get started in trail running or for occasional runners facing bad weather conditions. Their waterproofing is exceptional and the stability they offer makes them a great choice for compact and easy terrain. For short or medium distance races, they are perfect, as long as you don't face too technical terrain.
Although they could improve in agility, they are an excellent choice for training in cold and rainy climates. Plus, their durability makes them a solid long-term investment. If you're looking for a pair of shoes that offer great protection and comfort on easy terrain, while also keeping your feet dry, the Nike Juniper Trail 2 GTX is a choice that won't disappoint.
