The Nike ZoomX Zegama trail running shoe is the name with which the American brand intends to pay tribute to the iconic mountain marathon that runs through some of the most emblematic summits of the Aizkorri sierra (Basque Country).
Lovers of trail running shoes are in luck because we have before us a model of shoe more focused on running on terrain and trails not overly technical rewarding comfort and excellent cushioning Nike thanks to ZoomX foam also present in the models of asphalt.
The Nike ZoomX Zegama, which have already been tested by the professional athletes of the Nike Running trail team in Chamonix (France), are now a reality and are on the market for the happiness of trail running lovers. Surely one of the most relevant aspects of these Nike ZoomX Zegama is in its midsole, since the inclusion of ZoomX technology will allow running with a shoe model with great cushioning, softness and energy return, characteristic of the most successful models of the brand for asphalt used, among others, by the world record holder and Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge.
The Oregon-based company advocates the inclusion of a lightweight and breathable upper to wick away sweat and heat during training and competitions. In addition, it has a kind of sock that protects the ankle in order to prevent the entry of stones and provide greater stability and security to the joint.
As for the sole, possibly based on the most technical areas of the Zegama-Aizkorri, it can be said that it has a multidirectional tread pattern that is ideal for good grip on trails, rocky areas, and not so much on wet terrain. In other words, it is more a shoe for running fast and with very good sensations in races of any distance, but mainly ultras where speed and comfort in terrain without too many technical difficulties are the priority.
Following the style of shoes that the brand has previously marketed, such as the Wildhorse 7 or the Air Zoom Terra Kiger 8, this is a shoe with high profiles and a 4mmdrop (37mm in the heel and 33mm in the toe). The ZoomX Zegama go on sale for an RRP of 159.99€ and with the label of being a different model to what Nike had presented so far. Its strengths are its great comfort, good grip on not overly technical terrain, as well as a soft and reactive cushioning to complete distances of great entity. Climbing, descending and flat landing at all paces will not be a problem when you wear these Nike ZoomX Zegama.
