Photos NNormal Tomir
1 / 4"For runners. On all terrains. For all adventures". This is the claim that appears on the official website of Kilian Jornet's NNormal brand, which serves to present in style its latest launch, the new NNormal Tomir. A model that comes to market in three different versions: Tomir, Tomir Waterproof and Tomir Boot Waterproof Which one will be your choice?
These new NNormal Tomir are presented as a trail running shoe that offers durability and performance, but also combined with great style. In concept it is an all-rounder that can fit you for any activity. The name Tomir is not chosen at random, because this new model from NNormal has its own story. It is a 1,103-meter mountain, located in the Tramuntana Sierra in Mallorca. More specifically in the northeastern part of the island, and which offers spectacular views. Hence the summit of Tomir is one of the meeting points for outdoor sports lovers on the largest island of the Balearic Islands.
Novelties and main features of NNormal Tomir
"Tomir represents that almost impossible mix: on the one hand, we have the best technology and materials, and on the other hand, a comfort that makes you forget you are wearing them", Kilian Jornet said. A quote that sums up very well what it means to wear this new NNormal launch, the new Tomir.
The NNormal Tomir has been tested by Jornet himself, who has participated in the design process to adjust and improve the model to adapt to any outdoor activity. In this sense, these lightweight Tomir by NNormal include the most advanced technologies of the Spanish brand, which can be summarized as follows:
EVA foam midsole
The midsole of these NNormal Tomir shoes includes EVA foam. A material that ensures lightness, but also comfort, and a sufficient level of cushioning to cope with long-distance training. As well as providing safety and confidence when doing your strength sessions, and even the response you need to improve your records.
High-strength upper
With that idea of combining lightness, comfort and durability, the upper of this new shoe from NNormal is constructed with high-strength, lightweight yarns. Sewn into the midsole, this Matryx upper provides added strength against abrasion and potential tears. They are also more sustainable materials to respect the environment. Reducing pressure points and improving support, these Tomir feature an asymmetrical lacing system.
Vibram Megagrip+ Litebase
Exclusive compound to adapt to any type of terrain. Although its great argument in favor is that it is a material up to 30% lighter and up to 50% thinner than other compounds. All this is reinforced with the added stability provided by its 5 mm lugs.
And finally, in reference to the waterproof version of the NNormal Tomir Waterproof, its most outstanding technology is the Sympatex membrane to keep feet dry and cool at all times. This technology also has the Bluesign eco-sustainable certification, is a recyclable material and does not contain PTFE or PFC.
NNormal Tomir's ideal runner type
All in all, the NNormal Tomir is the all-terrain, all-purpose trail running shoe that you can use for your most demanding training sessions and mountain races. Even for any outdoor activity. It adapts to any type of terrain from grass, gravel, libre routes and on the most technical trails.
The best thing about these NNormal Tomir is that they perform on all terrains and at all levels. Trail runners of neutral tread, intermediate weights and for running/walking in different varieties of running paces.
NNormal, Kilian Jornet's new brand of trail running shoes
The collaboration between Kilian Jornet and the Spanish company Camper has resulted in a new brand, NNormal, which has surprised the world with its first model, the NNormal Kjerag, a high-performance trail running shoe for the most demanding trail runners who compete at the highest level. Now these new NNormal Tomir have arrived, designed to reach a wider public, and with the argument of being a more versatile, more resistant and more comfortable mountain running shoe for any outdoor outing.
In terms of technical specifications, these NNormal Tomir have a drop of 8 millimeters (heel height of 31 mm and forefoot height of 23 mm) and a weight of about 250 grams.
In conclusion, we can say that these NNormal Tomir are Kilian Jornet's most basic trail running shoes, and that they are more oriented to popular athletes.
Review of NNormal Tomir
Raúl Lozano
TesterThe NNormal is a multipurpose trail shoe for the popular runner, with Kilian Jornet's hook.
Finally, after a long time waiting, I have been lucky enough to wear and test the second product of the Nnormal brand, the Nnormal Tomir. The second shoe of Kilian Jornet's brand developed together with the footwear company Camper.
Puig Tomir is a mountain located in the northwest of the Serra de Tramontana, in Mallorca, with a height of 1103 meters. It is a large mass of rock with breathtaking 360 degree views that attracts a large number of libre enthusiasts, and that is the energy you want to convey, a shoe for all types of activity and for everyone. No matter what motivates you or keeps you active, there's a shoe for you in the Nnormal family, as this second Nnormal model comes in three variants because it comes together with two 'sisters' with a waterproof membrane: the Nnormal Tomir Waterproof and the Boot Waterproof. It is the same model with waterproof membrane, more oriented to trekking than trail running, as it incorporates a higher ankle for better support.
What type of runner are these Nnormal Tomir ideal for?
- Training and running at medium paces
- Competitions of any distance
- Weights up to 90 kg
- Versatile trailShoes
- Compact and not particularly technical terrain
We already knew the Nnormal Kjerag, in honor of one of the most emblematic mountains of Norway, where Kilian lives. They were the first shoes of the brand with which we have seen many of the great races and victories of Kilian in this 2022, and like the Tomir, which we are going to talk about today, it is a very versatile model. We can say that if the Nnormal Kjerag is a versatile shoe for runners who can be called 'elite', the Nnormal Tomir is a versatile shoe for the popular runner who is looking for a shoe for everything. Preferably for compact terrain and without too many technical complications.
At first glance it seemed to me a somewhat 'bulky' shoe compared to other models I've tested but everything changed when I put them on and, I must say, I found it extraordinary already in the first kilometers of mountain. After a few days in the saddle, I cleared the few doubts I might have had, era really extraordinary.
With a starting price of 150 euros and a weight of about 250 grams, it is a lightweight shoe ideal for any type of distance, terrain and with a lot of durability.
What we liked best about the Nnormal Tomir
If there is one thing that defines the Nnormal Tomir, it is its lightness, but also its acceptable comfort. An 8mm drop, 31 mm in the front and 23 mm in the back, indicates a high profile ideal for amateur runners in medium and long distance races at easy paces.
The outsole, Vibram Megagrip Litebase, is the same as the Kjerag, its top of the range model, but with a different pattern. In this case it is a Zegalite outsole with a very prominent and spaced 5.5 mm heel, ideal for all types of terrain: track, trail and, although it performs well in areas of oily and decomposed terrain. A sole, with a spectacular grip, is 50% thinner and 30% lighter. We know that the sole is, percentage-wise, the heaviest element of a shoe and lowering its weight has a considerable impact on the final package.
The EVA midsole has a firm feel. It is a shoe with a high profile and, in sensations, it is harder than the Kjerag. This midsole gives us great stability and great protection against the ground and, while it is true that we lose the reactivity and dynamism of Kjerag, this model seeks versatility completely.
A Ripstop has been introduced in the upper, with a very plastic-like feel, aimed at improving the shoe's durability. Its asymmetrical laces, with a very resistant to abrasion and tears interlacing, are turning towards the big toe ensuring a better grip and reducing pressure points. The thermo-sealed lower area gives us a better structure. In short, a very light upper that breathes very well, with a compound similar to the Matrix of Kjerag.
The universal last, wider at the rear and with good room in front for the toes, is very comfortable for long distances.

Possible points of improvement
We are talking about a multipurpose model, for almost any type of popular runner. In this sense, perhaps the model could evolve looking for a little more comfort. A slightly softer feel while running, without losing confidence in the race. An example to follow would be the New Balance Fresh Foam Hierro v7 which are aimed at the same trail runner profile but with a higher dose of comfort.
The rivals of the Nnormal Tomir
Nnormal enters the competition in what is probably the most massive category. That of multi-purpose trailshoes for popular runners. Here he is going to find tough rivals. Here are the most prominent ones:
Conclusion
We can say that the Nnormal Tomir is the Nnormal shoe for the general public, a super versatile shoe for the amateur runner with very good cushioning, support and grip. It is defined by its lightness and we cannot forget the durability, the strong point of the brand. A comfort that often makes you feel that you have the sensation of not wearing them. For running on technical terrain at high paces and even for quiet long workouts and libre activities such as trekking.
