The Puma Speed series presents its new model, the Puma Speed 500 Ignite running shoes, this lightweight shoe is designed for fast-paced training sessions, providing the runner with maximum protection against perspiration due to the ultra-open mesh. They offer good arch support, a good level of comfort and versatility to handle different distances with ease. The capability and solid responsiveness of these shoes and their good looks make them a great choice for those looking for a training shoe that does it all.
Puma once again relies on its own Ignite foam to add a different twist on the Speed series by introducing the Speed 500 Ignite. The foam gives the shoe obvious responsiveness and moderate cushioning without putting too much weight on the shoe overall.
The propulsion band on the outsole is another improved technology in these shoes; whether the runner is doing fast workouts or racking up miles, the responsiveness goes a long way in improving performance.
Another feature worth mentioning is the new ultra open mesh that leaves no doubt about how well ventilated it is, making runs in hot conditions enjoyable.
The fit of the Puma Speed 500 Ignite resembles that of a sprint racing shoe. It hugs the foot from heel to forefoot. The excellent fit in the heel and midfoot is non-restrictive, while the forefoot provides enough room for natural toe flaring. Runners with feet ranging from narrow to average width will feel very natural in this type of fit. The length of the shoes is standard.
EverTrack+ rubber, a Puma exclusive is located in the heel and other areas that receive the most impact for added durability. Slightly softer blown rubber with improved traction covers the rest of the outsole. There are large capsules throughout the outsole, which are separated by deep flex grooves for improved flexibility.
The midsole of the Puma Speed 500 Ignite is crafted from a dual-density foam blended with the highly responsive Ignite foam. Among the attributes of this foam is its cushioning and supportive capabilities, plus it provides adequate durability in a lightweight design. Rearfoot to forefoot transition has also been improved as the foam is one continuous piece from heel to forefoot.
The open mesh is a clear indication of the breathability offered by this shoe. Puma uses the EverFit system to enhance security and support. The shoe uses very thin overlays on the upper. The EverFit system straps secure the runner's midfoot and heel.
Those runners who have already accumulated some time of running experience and wish to speed up the speed of their workouts will find the Puma Speed 500 Ignite a very comfortable shoe, but with enough protection for fast paces.
