The Salming Miles is a training shoe designed to help us keep up the pace wherever we go. Made in Sweden, the shoes are designed to adapt to the running conditions commonly seen in that country, in addition to this, the reputation of Swedish products makes us think of a quality and durable shoes.
This new model has been launched as an alternative with more cushioning than the Distance, although its drop is just as low, with 4 millimeters. This type of shoe falls into a special category, as its cushioning is not considered minimalist footwear, but neither does it have corrective technologies like the support or maximalist shoes.
The upper is constructed without seams, incorporating mostly breathable and soft materials that feel quite pleasant to the foot. This upper construction makes use of two layers of material for durability and also to offer better support.
The lower layer of this material consists of a mesh that promotes ventilation and is also very soft to the touch, however, it does cause the shoe to not offer a good level of waterproofing, so if used in wet conditions it is very likely that our feet will end up wet.
On top of this mesh layer is Salmings Exo Skeleton technology, a structure that simulates a rib cage and offers better support for the foot and helps stabilize it in lateral movements. As in the Speed version, the firm assures that this exoskeleton in the Salming Miles allows to reduce the pressure produced on the joints during the race.
Thanks to the flexibility of the upper, the forefoot will have a better space during landing, promoting a more natural movement of the foot.
The midsole uses a compound called Recoil which allows the negative energy produced during contact with the ground to be efficiently distributed over the surface of the midsole and converted into positive energy that helps facilitate take-off, thus achieving a more fluid and comfortable stride.
Although the drop is low, this layer of material allows good protection for the sole of the foot, while maintaining ground feel; because the shoes are intended for asphalt racing, the protection for the foot will be adequate.
The Salming Miles uses a lightweight and durable compound in its outsole that provides extra traction to this section of the shoes. This compound performs efficiently on pavement, even if it is wet. While the shoes are not intended for surfaces other than asphalt, they will also offer good characteristics on packed dirt surfaces with some loose material.
Salming has created a design for the soles in which approximately 60% of the sole, from the heel area to about the midfoot incorporates a rubber with high traction and whose design allows for greater stability. In the remaining 40%, which corresponds to the forefoot section, the design focuses on providing flexibility.
The Salming Miles is a running shoe with good cushioning and will facilitate fast running with ample surface feel. Salming has come up with a shoe that is fast, cushioned and offers a good level of support for our feet.
