Saucony Guide 16: One of the best running shoes with stability control

During the last few weeks we have had the opportunity to test the new version of one of Saucony 's running shoes for those runners who need a little more stability control during their workouts, I am referring to the Saucony Guide 16.

Recently introduced, the Saucony Guide 16 running shoe, slightly improved over the previous version, we can consider it as an update. The new features focus on an updated mesh to improve the fit of the foot inside the shoe and increase breathability.

First impressions and features of the Saucony Guide 16

First impressions and features of the Saucony Guide 16

What has caught our attention the most, and is one of the most positive points of the shoe, is the stability control system that is noticeable from the first strides with the shoe.

As we have a neutral stride, we have noticed the presence of the stability control more, but as we have been testing and running more kilometers, we have gradually adapted to the shoe and we have seen that the stability control works very well, being a great help for those runners who need a little more stability during their workouts.

The main objective of this reinforcement in the midsole of the shoe is to offer a perfectly guided support during our workouts and to provide the maximum possible support and we can say that it more than fulfills the objective.

First impressions and features of the Saucony Guide 16

The fit of the foot inside the shoe already improved a lot in the Saucony Guide 15 and, in this version we still have an ideal fit and comfort to run kilometers and kilometers without any problems. The system of straps that help to improve the fit works just as well and we liked the sides of the shoe, which are significantly higher than the previous version and help to improve the comfort and fit of the foot.

In addition, the updated mesh improves breathability and although we didn't test the shoe during the hottest months of the year, we won't have any problems with the Saucony Guide 16 during the spring and/or summer.

We tested the Saucony Guide 16 mainly on asphalt, the terrain where it undoubtedly performs best, but we also wanted to go a bit further and we tested the shoe on dirt and gravel terrains where it has also performed reasonably well, obviously, they are terrains without excessive technical difficulties, but the outsole has not been excessively worn and has not lost as much reactivity and grip as era.

The rubber reinforcements in the areas of greatest contact will guarantee us a durability that is mandatory in this type of training shoes, designed to roll and roll without worrying about this aspect.

What type of runners are the Saucony Guide 16 for?

Those runners of medium or even heavy weight who need stability control during their daily workouts have in the Saucony Guide 16 one of their main options for running.

Despite being a specific model for runners who need greater stability, occasionally, they can also be used by runners with neutral footstep and who run long distances since, on many occasions, fatigue makes us vary the type of footstep during our workouts and the stability control will help us in this type of situation.

For what distances do we recommend the Saucony Guide 16?

With the Saucony Guide 16 we can cover any kind of distance without problems, from 10 km training to the marathon, of course, as long as they are not at excessively fast paces since for those faster paces we will have other options of shoes that can be better adapted.

What we liked most about the Saucony Guide 16

The stability control system, developed by the same brand, is a technology that works perfectly and that we highlight the most of the Saucony Guide 16 since it performs its function from the first kilometers.

We also highlight the better fit inside the shoe, the mesh has been improved and, along with those slightly higher sides, help to have a perfect stability and comfort to feel comfortable in our workouts.

Opportunities for improvement in the Saucony Guide 16

More cushioning, we are facing a model for training and quiet paces, so the presence of the PWRRUN + compound, which is already used in other Saucony models such as the Saucony Triumph 20 would be a very favorable point to gain followers to this shoe.

The shoe already features the PWRRUN+ sockliner offering an additional layer of comfort, but we really missed a bit more cushioning during our workouts.

What models can we compare the Saucony Guide 16 to?

Final conclusions of the Saucony Guide 16

When we are talking about the Saucony Guide 16, we are talking about one of the most outstanding stability control shoes on the market today and one that performs its function the best. A shoe that has been slightly improved over the previous version, a little lighter which helps the shoe to be more versatile.

Those runners who need stability control during training or competitions have in the Saucony Guide 16 a very good option to take into account to obtain the most efficient stride possible.
