1 / 3

Renowned for the manufacture of footwear and sports accessories focused directly on athletics and mountain running, the American company Saucony arrives with a new edition of its running shoes preferred by many, the Saucony Jazz 18, a shoe that adapts to virtually all sports activities with its good cushioning system, support and stability they provide to the athlete's foot.

Type of runner

The ideal runner for these running shoes would be neutral footed (although they have some support), of medium weight (up to 75 kilos) and running at medium paces (4:45 to 5:45 minutes per kilometer).

Upper Saucony Jazz 18

The upper of the shoe is composed of a customized and improved mesh that maintains its level of breathability. Its forefoot and rearfoot have stitched reinforcements to ensure a better fit and maximum durability, the medial side is also composed of heat-sealed reinforcements that are attached to three lace holes, thus creating a better fit of the foot, protecting both the lateral and the heel, thus providing greater security.

We are going to find a series of thermo-sealed reinforcements that are attached to three eyelets of the lacing. The objective is to keep the athlete's foot well supported in the instep area. The lacing has 6 eyelets and is very well finished.

Although there is a greater number of synthetic reinforcements than in other shoes, you will see that they are not felt when wearing the Saucony. With a not particularly wide last, the design of the Saucony Jazz 18 fits medium build athletes well.

To allow air to flow freely from both the outside and inside of the shoe without any problems with perspiration, a Hidramax collar is incorporated for comfort and ventilation to prevent sweating and avoid overheating of the athlete's foot.

Saucony Outsole and Midsole

As we all know, the main purpose of an outsole is not only to guarantee the shoe's durability but also to provide good cushioning on asphalt as well as on rocky or muddy terrain.

Saucony has always proven to have a resistant and flexible outsole even on difficult terrains, in the Saucony Jazz 18 we find the XT-600 system that offers a good grip on different types of terrain, however they have been specially designed for use on asphalt.

In the midsole they have implemented three types of technologies that guarantee an adequate level of comfort. Firstly, they have the IEVA material, which is actually an injected EVA foam that allows the shoe greater flexibility without losing its cushioning level. The 8 mm drop of this shoe is ideal for neutral runners looking for medium cushioning.

The second technology of the midsole can be clearly seen between the heel and midfoot of the shoe, as Saucony has placed a different color in the outer design. This is the SRC material that offers a better dispersion of the energy produced when the heel impacts the ground, so this shoe will offer good support to athletes whose fulcrum is located in this region.

Finally, these two technologies of the Saucony Jazz 18 are integrated by means of a system called ProGrid that allows the energy produced by the foot strike to be distributed throughout the shoe, improving the push-off and giving the athlete a smoother run.
