The imminent arrival on the market of the Saucony Peregrine 12 is making the teeth of the fastest mountain runners eager to devour miles and miles of the roughest terrain. The latest update of this legendary Saucony saga, named after the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest bird on Earth, bursts onto the scene with very important changes that affect its weight and traction. We still have no official date for the release of the fastest and most comfortable version of this successful saga but early reports point to a leap in quality.
The Saucony Peregrine 12 trail running shoes is one of those model that trail lovers look forward to every start of the season, and no wonder! It is a model designed for runners with neutral footstep who are looking to face training and mountain races in distances ranging from a 10K to a marathon. This twelfth edition brings with it major changes that affect key areas of the shoe and that we analyze below.
The Saucony Peregrine 12 have already seen the light in the US market, however, in Europe we will still have to wait a few more weeks to test this latest update. However, we already know, roughly speaking, some of the most characteristic details of this new model, the fastest and most comfortable to date of this successful line.
The three main new features of this model can be summarized as: 35 grams lighter than its previous version, the Saucony Peregrine 11, new lugging and the incorporation of an anti-rock plate for improved protection.
The midsole incorporates PWRRUN foam, a compound that provides excellent responsiveness and agility on the most uneven terrain. It is in this area of the shoe that we find the new anti-rock plate that ensures superior protection during ascents and descents.
The upper has also been redesigned to increase stability and comfort. Its new "bootie" construction allows a more anatomical fit for improved response at high speeds. Special mention should also be made of the internal heel counter that adds stability to the shoe as a whole.
The 5 PWRTRAC rubber lugs adjust to different terrain profiles while ensuring excellent traction and exceptional grip.
All in all, major changes to Saucony's legendary Peregrine saga. A model that has been significantly reduced in weight, the result? A trail running shoe that is below the barrier of 300 grams; balanced, stable and comfortable.
Although it is true that we still have to wait a few weeks to be able to test these Peregrine 12 at RUNNEA, the first information points to a great leap in quality in this all-terrain model. As far as technical specifications are concerned, it is worth mentioning a 4mm drop and an approximate weight of 275 grams.
