The long-awaited Saucony Peregrine 8 arrives with notable and significant changes, but the North American company has surprised both friends and strangers, because perhaps the changes were not what was expected. The hallmarks are still those of a trail shoe of low weight and low profile, since it has a drop of 4 millimeters. Two features that contribute to the model providing optimal dynamics and agility to defend itself on any surface.
If there is one thing that is striking in the Saucony Peregrine 8, it is that the American brand has renounced to follow the same pattern as in its most iconic models, and in the midsole of the Peregrine 8, the exclusive EVERUN foam does not cover the entire length of the shoe as it does in the Saucony Triumph ISO 4, for example.
Thus, Saucony s designers have opted to introduce one of their flagship materials such as PWRFoam, replacing SSL EVA which had become somewhat outdated. But the Saucony Peregrine 8 also does not forgo the introduction of the innovative EVERUN compound, which is presented in a thin layer on top of the PWRFoam. This combination of foams makes the Peregrine 8 more responsive. In addition, this configuration follows the successful line marked by another of the Lexington-based brand's Running shoes, the iconic Saucony Ride 10.
As we have already seen that it has worked well in its predecessor, the upper of the Saucony Peregrine 8 also features the TPU exoskeleton, which allows providing more protection to the foot, while incorporating a 3 strap system, which wraps the midfoot from the sole to the instep. Thus, the pressure exerted by the laces results in a firmer grip, but does not detract from comfort.
Other details of the Saucony Peregrine 8 that increase comfort are the reinforced toe cap and the tongue attached to the sides. Both elements contribute to improve the runner's experience regardless of the terrain.
Speaking of terrain, one of the most outstanding sections of the latest update of the Saucony Peregrine is its outsole. Here, the Massachusetts-based company's designers have focused on evolving the characteristic and powerful PWRTRAC compound, which comes together with a6mm high lug pattern. Thus, the configuration that mounts the outsole of this trail running model stands out for offering excellent traction and optimum grip on virtually any surface. And it is an ultra-adherent sole, which also contributes to maximize the protection provided by the Saucony Peregrine 8 to the mountain runner.
As for the technical specifications, the Saucony Peregrine 8 has a low profile with a 4 mm drop (heel 24.5 mm and forefoot 205 mm), and weights of 283 grams in size 42.5EU for men, and 255 grams for the women's model (size 39EU).
In short, thanks to the right combination of materials and technologies, the Saucony Peregrine 8 continues to remain one of the most popular choices for all-terrain runners.
