The newest update to Saucony'sflagship maximum cushioning shoe, the Triumph 19, is here. This is the most awaited shoe for runners who want a daily training shoe with enough response to pick up the pace, if you need it.

This newest version of the Saucony Triumph 19 is in keeping with the American brand's iconic family of running shoes. There are not many changes with respect to previous versions, but there are small details which improve certain strategic points such as the upper and the heel area. These mainly increase the model's fit and breathability, but without neglecting its comfort and light cushioning for long distances.

Saucony Triumph 19, most notable new features

The highlight of the Saucony Triumph 19 is the "less is more" aspect, and how the product developers of the Kutztown (Pennsylvania) based brand have responded to the demands of Saucony's loyal followers, and have managed to reduce the model's weight.

The shoe's geometry is similar to that of the previous version, with very comfortable, soft and reactive PWVRRUN+ midsole, but it is the redesign of the upper's technical mesh that has reduced the weight of this model. This is due to the replacement of the double-layer mesh with the FormFit system, which wraps the foot better to increase adaptability, and also breathability.

The strengths of this updated Triumph 19 from Saucony can be summarised in the following sections:

Premium cushioning capability

With the softer and more responsive PWRRUN foam material, these top of the range cushioning Triumph 19's are able to ensure maximum comfort, regardless of the distance you run. They are optimised for long distance running.

Redesigned upper for lightweight performance

In the upper of these Saucony shoes, there is a considerable improvement with the new engineered mesh, which, together with the better articulated eyelets, the feeling of support and fit is much greater, as it now has a sock-like adaptability of the shoe to the foot, as well as adding more breathability. At the same time, the aesthetics have an elegant, more modern touch, and this combination of design and performance make it more attractive.

Improved transitions

Aside from their aesthetic effect, those soft suede fabric details implemented in the tongue and side areas, contribute to lighter and more comfortable transitions. You will run with that feeling of effortlessness in every workout.

Another of Saucony's main focuses this season is respect for the environment, and these Triumphs certainly reinforce this trend by using recycled materials to promote the marketing and sale of more sustainable products.

Saucony Triumph 19 Technical Specifications

More key details of the renewed Saucony Triumph 19 can be found in the technical specifications section. This top of the range shoe from the North American brand has an 8mm drop (32.5mm in the heel area and 24.5mm in the forefoot).

With regards to the shoe's weight, it is one of the lightest options in this very specific range, despite the fact that the maximalist trend of oversized midsoles tends to increase shoes' weight. The men's version weighs 309 grams and the women's running shoes are 272 grams.

All in all we can say that the Saucony Triumph 19 continue the Saucony Triumph 18's legacy of being a solid, comfortable daily training shoe with superior cushioning to rack up large volumes of kilometres on the road. It's important that, as runners who like and need to get out and run, we have adequate running shoes. The Saucony Triumph 19 is one of those models to keep in mind to improve our running experience.

Saucony Triumph 19 or how to enjoy maximum lightness over long distances

Sometimes it is inevitable to think that when we opt for a shoe with maximum cushioning we are "giving up", to a certain extent, a greater lightness and reactivity in the race compared to models with less cushioning capacity. Well, these Saucony Triumph 19 are the fervent proof that a balance between protection, speed and cushioning to face long distances is possible.

Review Saucony Triumph 19, maximum lightness

The running shoe we review in the next few lines is one of the most acclaimed models by a large group of runners looking for a daily training shoe with enough responsiveness to pick up the pace, if you so desire. This is the latest update of one of the most long-lived sagas of the American company and undisputed benchmark for neutral runners looking to carry out large volumes of kilometers on asphalt.

One of the lightest options in the specific segment of maximalist shoes.

With no major changes compared to its predecessor, this Saucony Triumph 19 burst onto the scene with a new upper construction that has led to a significant weight reduction and increased flexibility. However, the same geometry of the previous version is maintained thanks to the PWVRRUN+ midsole; a comfortable foam that stands out for its excellent responsiveness, sensitivity, softness and lightness.

Review Saucony Triumph 19, top cushioning

If we had to summarize the main improvements that these Saucony Triumph 19 bring with them, they would be as follows: lighter, more adaptability and more comfortable transitions.

What kind of runner profile are these Saucony Triumph 19 shoes aimed at?

If Saucony s successful Triumph saga is characterized by something, it is for being an indisputable reference for neutral runners with medium/medium-high weight (those above 75kg in the case of men and above 60kg in the case of women) who are looking to face a high volume of mileage on asphalt. A very cushioned and protected option for a wide range of paces.

Review Saucony Triumph 19, runner profile

With an 8mm drop and weights of 290 grams for the men's version and 258 grams for the women's version, it is positioned as one of the lightest options in its competitive segment.

Running paces

When we talk about a wide range of paces we must qualify that it is not a fast shoe, but taking into consideration its maximalist essence, we can say that it is one of the lightest and most reactive options in its segment. In a pace range of 5: 30min/km is where we can get the true potential of this shoe.

Review Saucony Triumph 19, running paces

As always, the paces of use will be set by the athlete himself, but I'd go for paces above 4:30min/km. It's a model that behaves with character when you "squeeze" them but it's in the feeling runs where Triumph 19 really make the difference. In a pace range of 5 530min/km is where we can get the true potential of this shoe.

Distances

They fulfill the premise of being a top of the range in cushioning to complete the longest and most demanding distances on asphalt. Aimed at completing distances ranging from half marathon to marathon, its premium cushioning has been optimized for high volume mileage.

What we liked most about the Saucony Triumph 19

From the very first moment, the running sensations with these Saucony Triumph 19 have been impeccable. Not a single but to put them. A shoe that has surprised me very pleasantly for its lightness and reactivity. I had already been "warned" about the quality of this emblematic saga but reality has far surpassed fiction.

Review Saucony Triumph 19, strengths

I have been able to test them in different types of training, both in "enjoyable" outings and in faster runs and the truth is that they have behaved exceptionally well. A shoe that gives you the perfect dose of cushioning and lightness without sacrificing the protection you need to face long distances.

I have to admit my sympathy for the maximalist trend of oversized midsoles.

Another aspect that I consider key in these training shoes is the adaptability. As soon as you put them on, comfort takes over.

Review Saucony Triumph 19, oversized midsole

The shoe wraps around your foot as if it were a second skin, without pressing, but giving you that breathability and flexibility that you prioritize so much in the race.

The small improvements implemented in this latest version, come to improve strategic points such as the upper and the heel area with the aim of increasing the fit and breathability of the model and we can say that, indeed, they have succeeded. In addition, I have to admit my sympathy for the maximalist trend of oversized midsoles.

Opportunities for improvement in the Saucony Triumph 19

Review Saucony Triumph 19, opportunities for improvement

Little room for improvement in a top of the range shoe that has practically everything. It's comfortable, protected, lightweight, reactive... to put a but, perhaps it's a bit unstable due to its midsole geometry. If you are not used to maximalist shoes, a midsole with a higher height, you may notice some instability in the first kilometers. But that perception will fade away as you put more miles on your legs.

What are the shoes with which we can compare these Saucony Triumph 19?

These Saucony Triumph 19 belong to the crowded segment of maximalist running shoes, with the differential valor of offering a unique reactivity and lightness. Taking this into consideration, we could pit them against such outstanding models as the:

Little more to add to what has been said above. These Saucony Triumph have been a very pleasant surprise. A maximalist shoe that offers a perfect balance between protection, lightness and reactivity for maximum enjoyment in sensation runs but also shows its character in fast paces.

This is the shoe to wear when you are not looking for time or pace, when you just want to enjoy your favorite sport and add kilometer after kilometer with the best sensations. Your ultimate trail running shoe for long distances; a sure valor in protection.
