The Under Armour Micro G Mantis 2 running shoes have received a number of optimizations over their previous version to better adapt to the racing environment. They now feature a thinner midsole that improves the stability of the shoe, a more cushioned tongue that prevents abrasion, better grip from the outsoles, and an overall more durable construction.
With the previous version Under Armour had made it a priority to improve the feeling that the runner experienced during the race, however in this second edition the company has decided to optimize the shoe so that it also provides a better response to the wear caused by constant use.
The upper construction follows a very similar style to the previous version, with a layered design with perforations that hugs the foot while providing better ventilation and flexibility.
The entire layering system on the Under Amour Micro G Mantis 2 has been welded together to give a strong structure to the shoe without adding weight. This also allows the upper to have fewer seams, making the experience of wearing the shoe less irritating to the foot while maintaining the natural movement of the foot during running.
One of the features that is also improved in this edition is the midsole. Micro G polymer continues to be implemented, which is a lightweight yet very responsive foam during impacts. It not only absorbs the shock of the foot against the surface, but also transfers the energy in a better way so that the take-off is more fluid.
In addition to this material, another layer has been added with 4D Foam technology, which is located just above the Micro G midsole. When the foot presses on the material, it adjusts to its natural contour, giving better support to the curves of the sole, this also allows the shoe not to slip and the foot stays in place all the time.
The soles of the Under Armour Micro G Mantis 2 shoes make use of a solid rubber component that has been incorporated in layers across the entire surface of the sole. Although the outsole design looks quite simple, it is very efficient when it comes to traction and grip. You can also notice some grooves that enhance the flexibility of the entire unit and facilitate movement.
In general terms, this second edition of the Micro G Mantis has a lighter structure and with its thinner midsole allows for a lower drop (8mm), which improves stability by bringing the foot closer to the surface. The materials chosen for its construction adapt better to the foot and protect it efficiently during medium mileage competitions.
