Under Armour presents a second edition of the Thrill line, Running shoes that have aroused great interest, mainly because of their affordable price and the remarkably efficient features that the American firm has incorporated in them.
Designed for daily training, these shoes offer a good level of cushioning, comfort, breathability and durability, which make the Under Armour Thrill 2 shoes suitable for most surfaces, but also for use during other sports practices, or even as a sneaker model for a casual look.
The upper of this second edition has been slightly revamped and this time has fewer overlays. This helps to reduce stitching that can irritate the runner's foot, improving overall comfort.
The forefoot of the shoe retains the fairly open-hole mesh that ensures good ventilation for this area of the foot. This mesh is also used on the tongue, as seen in its predecessor version. The overlays that were on the sides have been removed, leaving a mesh with smaller holes than the front one in view, but offering additional ventilation.
For the midsole construction of the Under Armour Thrill 2, Under Armours proprietary Micro G foam has been chosen. This foam, which has already been seen in a number of previous editions of their shoes, has proven to offer good cushioning in racing on a variety of surfaces and also has the ability to better disperse impact energy for a smoother, more fluid stride.
This foam extends the full length of the shoe to provide a more homogeneous surface and a larger area to distribute weight on contact, facilitating transition.
As seen in other Under Armour shoes, the outsole has been designed with a few lugs, which have been placed only in the front section of the shoe. Despite their lack of aggressiveness, they adapt very well to different surfaces and present a very respectable grip, especially on asphalt.
The outsole features multidirectional grooves, which are intended to improve the flexibility of these Running shoes. The patterns chosen for the grooves are intended to provide a more fluid and natural movement to the foot while running. The sole has some reinforcements on the metatarsals and heel which are the areas most prone to abrasion.
Regarding fit, the Under Armour Thrill 2 fits medium to light build runners best, so those runners with wider feet may need to size up.
Overall, the Under Armour Thrill 2 offers comfort, responsive running and durability, all at a fairly affordable price.
