In this day and age, the major watch brands cannot be fila to the new trends of gadgets that flood our daily lives, and with which we can perform different actions from our own wrist. Aware that we are going through an era in which change and innovation are constant, reputable watch manufacturers are already fully involved in the wearables sector. It is time to diversify and broaden horizons.
One of the most relevant cases is that of the TAG Heuer brand, Swiss master watchmakers, whose catalog is full of Heart Rate Monitors & Sports Watches and luxury chronographs. In the case of smartwatches, TAG Heuer has joined forces with Intel and Google to launch its first smartwatch, the TAG Heuer Connected. A glamorous premium watch that is capable of measuring the physical exercise performed, and can also be synchronized with the smartphone.
It is clear that in this joint collaboration agreement, TAG Heuer will bring to bear all its experience in the world of watchmaking to present a smartwatch with a markedly high-end cut in both its construction and its design. Intel is responsible for adding the technical component, while Google has the mission of incorporating the operating system, supported by Android Wear.
Luxury construction and design
The TAG Heuer Connected has as one of its main features its great resistance, since its case and back are made of grade 2 titanium. The use of this material is an added advantage in terms of lightness and strength, compared to other elements such as steel or gold. Its sapphire crystal is tested against scratches.
In addition, this luxury smartwatch from the Swiss manufacturer is IP67 certified, which presupposes that it is waterproof up to 1 meter deep, and has full protection against dust.
On the other hand, in its design the TAG Heuer Connected allows the use of up to three digital dials: GMT, hands and chronograph, reflecting the aesthetics and functionality of an authentic dial.
In the chapter of adjustment, this smartwatch includes vulcanized rubber strap in black with detachable clasp and relief, making it easy to take it off and put it on. All this comes as standard, although the user has the possibility of interchanging the straps in a variety of colors, such as orange, green, white, blue, red or yellow.
Multi-touch screen
Considering the technical characteristics of this Premium watch, the TAG Heuer is a robust, compact and large device. Itsthickness is 46 millimeters, and a thickness very close to 13 millimeters. Its total weight is 81 grams, strap included. In addition, this smart device from the Swiss brand also incorporates a dual-core Intel Atom Z34XX processor with 1.6 GHz. And it also has a 410 mAh battery, which on a practical level means a minimum battery life of 25 hours under normal use. In its storage capacity, the TAG Heuer Connected has 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory.
Being supported on an Android Wear operating system makes the gadget compatible with Android and iOS, And even incorporates microphone and can connect to Wi-Fi networks, regardless of synchronization with the smartphone. In this way, the watch can receive call, text and app notifications, while monitoring the number of steps accumulated during the day. And of course give accurate time at all times.
However, one of its most significant and eye-catching details is in its multi-touch, 1.5 LCD screen. This screen is completely circular and transreflective, allowing an easy and quick reading.
Its crown also deserves a special mention, since this is the key piece for the management of the TAG Heuer Connected, from which you can adjust the different functionalities and variables provided by this smartwatch.
Designed to manage exclusive apps
Depending on the activated dial mode, the TAG Heuer presents three different interactive counters -at 12:00h, at 6:00h and at 9:00h.- Through these particular counters you can access personalized information, and also access a specific app. In addition to being compatible with other applications such as Google Fit, and some exclusive ones such as Insiders and GolfShot Pro.
On the other hand, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer has also created an exclusive platform, where the user will have the option to get available applications for each of its different dials, while being able to update the latest built-in features.
But that's not all, because TAG Heuer covers its back, and, thinking that this irruption of the smartwatch may be due more to a fad than a trend with a view to endure over time, provides that after the warranty period of two years, owners have the option to change the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch for a Carrera model -the traditional watch of a lifetime-, which has a very similar and exclusive design for owners of this high-end smartwatch.
