Nearly four decades ago, Onitsuka Tiger designed the California 78 to compete with the jogging trend in the running market. The California 78 helped runners maintain the arch of the foot while providing toe support. Along with optimized support, the sole of the shoe also included a wider heel for landing stability, and a curvature that helped with forward propulsion.

The California 78 features an original design that retains its nostalgic, vintage feel, with the addition of a suede toe cap, reinforced eyelets and heel counter.
