The Asics Gel Cumulus 20 is undoubtedly one of the best performing shoes for runners with a neutral stride and medium weight (up to 80-82 kg). A model that has remained in the shadow of its sister the Asics Gel Nimbus 20 and from which it differs few things, but that we can find at a lower price and with a very similar performance.

In addition we must also point out that in this edition so round, the new Cumulus 20 of the Japanese brand is that they incorporate important and notable changes, which we will detail below.

As we have initially pointed out, the first thing you need to know about the Asics Gel Cumulus 20 is that it is a model that shares many of the technologies brought to us by the Asics Gel Nimbus 20. For example, the efficient and innovative FlyteFoam midsole, whose raison d'être is not only to provide a more reactive cushioning, but also to make it lighter in the overall computation of the model.

And the reduction of grams with respect to the Cumulus 19 version of ASICS Running shoes exceeds 40 grams of difference.

In fact, these Gel Cumulus 20 have a weight of about 288 grams for the male model, while the female version does not reach 230 grams in weight. These weights bring it closer to its most direct rivals such as the Mizuno Wave Rider 21 or Saucony Triumph ISO 4.

New ASICS Gel Cumulus 20

This new edition of the Asics Gel Cumulus 20 aims to improve what was already an exceptional running shoe, the Asics Gel Cumulus 19. To do so, it comes with changes mainly in its design but also in the way in which the materials are arranged in the model.

Design

At first glance we can see that the Japanese designers have changed the shape of the collar and the toe of the shoe. In addition, the famous Asics Gel is considerably reduced and loses prominence, although it is still present in the rear area of the model to provide that cushioned feeling in one of the areas most exposed to wear and tear.

Style

This Gel Cumulus 20 follows Asics ' trend of creating very casual sneakers (you can use them for dress or training), a concept radically opposed to what it has been doing so far. Goodbye to acid or garish colors. More neutral, elegant and "wearable" tones.

Technologies

Asics ' great obsession is to reduce the weight of its Running shoes without losing performance. To look for comfort and style. And for this they have adapted their Flytefoam cushioning foam. They have called it FlyteFoam Popel, located in the upper, while the FlyteFoam Lyte is located in the lower part of the midsole. This results in a reduced weight of the entire midsole, a softer feel and excellent cushioning. Also contributing to this is that the GEL material is reduced to the heel area to better cushion the impact of landing.

All this is reinforced with a last that uses SpEVA foam, which allows to combine comfort with functionality, and in this way, the ASICS Gel Cumulus 20 becomes a more versatile model as a training shoe for long distance runs.

The changes also win out in the upper of these ASICS Gel Cumulus 20 because they have opted to replace the overlays and plastic overlays of previous editions by implementing a new generation mesh, with Jacquard fabric, which offers more elasticity, better fit and optimal adaptation. Of course this new mesh also has a lot to say in the aesthetics of this neutral running shoe.

Finally, this twentieth edition of the ASICS Gel Cumulus also features a new outsole, which allows a more comprehensive contact with the ground. As you can see, there are changes all along the lines of one that provides superior performance, and at a lower price than the mythical and mediatic Gel Nimbus 20
