The ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 is one of the most awaited novelties for the first half of 2023 from the Japanese brand. The new ASICS Gel Cumulus 25, which is completely renewed with respect to the previous version, is undoubtedly a good way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the saga in style.

The renewal of these ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 running shoes seeks to maintain those comfortable and smooth running sensations, as usual, during our daily workouts. The new shoe provides excellent cushioning and comfort and incorporates numerous technologies developed by the Japanese brand that we explain below.

ASICS Gel Cumulus 25, most important new features

The Gel Cumulus 25, ASICS running shoes, are already available on the market from the first quarter of 2023, and represent a turning point in one of the most veteran sagas and with greater acceptance by the runners and runners.

The design of the new ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 is one of the aspects that most differs from the ASICS Gel Cumulus 24 and, in this edition, is very similar to the new model of the ASICS GEL NIMBUS, with higher profiles and a design that increases the versatility of the shoe.

This version includes Flyte Foam Blast + foam, with which we are guaranteed good cushioning and reactivity, gaining more in versatility. It is the same compound used in other faster shoes from the Japanese brand, such as the ASICS Novablast 3, which is working very well.

The midsole of the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 also features a Hybrid Ortholite sockliner that perfectly complements the PURE GEL and Flyte Foam Blast + to offer that extra comfort during our workouts.

The upper of the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 is updated to offer better adaptability and breathability of the shoe . The upper of the shoe is composed of a jacquard mesh with a design that adapts and fits perfectly to the runner's foot. The 3D Space Construction developed by ASICS and the recycled materials used in 100% of the manufacturing of the upper of the shoe could not be missing in this new version.

With all this, ASICS product developers have gone for a Gel Cumulus 25 with improved support, lighter weight and a higher level of comfort than what they have already captured in the previous version of the ASICS Gel Cumulus 24.

Ideal runner type for the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25

Despite the new features included, this ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 is one of those daily training shoes for a large number of runners. Now that they also gain more reactivity, that range of runners is widened, because those athletes who are closer to 4:30 min/km race paces, will be able to use it without problems. As well as those who run at lower and more controlled paces.

ASICS Cumulus 25, superlative comfort for daily training over all distances

I'm in luck! The RUNNEA team has sent me another top running shoe, one of the best sellers, and that motivates me to go running. After having them on my feet and testing them, I confirm that I'm back to training, again, with ASICS. The ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 is the training shoe on asphalt that will meet all your expectations, as long as you do not have that pressure, or that obsession to look at the clock to try to improve your times.

There are so many new features and improvements of these running shoes ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 that far exceed the limits of an update, and should be presented as a completely new model. It does maintain many of the hallmarks of this successful saga of the Japanese brand: cushioning, protection and comfort in each stride. This last variable, that of comfort, now, in superlative degree.

If you ask me for an adjective to define these renewed Gel Cumulus 25 is that they are a titan for running on asphalt. Its technological innovation of the PureGel system is a success, without a doubt. Your sensations will no longer be the same running!

ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 Runner Profile

I ran 12 kilometers with these ASICS Gel Cumulus 25, my longest run. Preferably on asphalt surface, sidewalk pavement, and with some loose gravel sections. There was also some treadmill session, and the behavior of this daily training shoe was practically perfect. They perform exceptionally well. Now, it is true that I have to admit that my fastest pace has been 5:20 min/km. But, to be honest, my sustained paces have been even slower, and are closer to 6:00 min/km.

With this personal use reference I want to tell you that these renewed Cumulus 25 will work for those easy running days and for doing long distance workouts with maximum comfort and smoothness sensations.

The good thing about these ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 is that we are talking about a shoe that can fit a large number of neutral and intermediate weight runners. A good option for heel strikers.

ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 vs ASICS Gel Nimbus 25

The biggest handicap of these ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 has always been that they are in the shadow of the media ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 But, I think it is an interesting point to present the main differences between the latest updates of the ASICS Cumulus 25 and the ASICS Nimbus 25

First of all, I would like to invite you to read June Angulo's review of the ASICS Gel Nimbus 25, one of the most recent additions to the RUNNEA TEAM. There you will have a more exhaustive comparison of what one or the other model can offer you, so you can decide with better criteria what will be your best choice.

The ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 is more cushioned and stable than the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25. However, the Cumulus 25 is more flexible in the rear part of the shoe and offers a more fluid ride. While both models are on par in terms of fit and support, thanks to the revamped upper.

What we liked most about the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25

My last two tests for RUNNEA have been of ASICS shoes: Gel Pulse 14 and Gel Cumulus 25. As you may not remember, I'll tell you again. I wrote about the ASICS Gel Pulse 14 that it's a kind of shoe that you enjoy even more by running with it. Well, with the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 the opposite has happened to me. From the first step you take with them you already feel the exceptional comfort they offer.

In my opinion, ASICS has once again hit the exact right key and has created a Gel Cumulus 25 that is more comfortable and lighter, without reducing its performance in terms of protection and cushioning. Its shock absorption is superb and efficient for softer landings. This innovative midsole construction with FlyteFoam Blast Plus and PureGel materials are the "culprits" of this running sensation. A sensation that has nothing to do with the previous version of the ASICS Gel Cumulus 24.

Moreover, as it is happening with many of the so-called maximalist models on the market, the trend is to increase the midsole geometry (up to 4mm in the Cumulus 25), and yet the shoe offers a lighter and more comfortable behavior from the heel to the forefoot. What's more, despite this midsole reconfiguration, the Gel Cumulus 25 remains as stable as in previous versions.

On the other hand, runners with wide feet will also feel very comfortable with this rolling model from ASICS. The shoe from the midfoot and forefoot area has more toe room for improved comfort.

There is little doubt that the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25 is a running shoe that once you put it on, you won't take it off any time of the day.

Opportunities for improvement in the ASICS Gel Cumulus 25

In this section, perhaps, I still have more kilometers to go to try to get more faults. Besides, it's always the same for me, that their opportunities for improvement are more like personal feelings. What I mean by this is that what happens to me, may not happen to you.

Anyway, here it goes. Now that the nice weather is here to stay, I recommend you go for a run in a thin, breathable sock. It's not that the shoe generates hot spots, but it is that I have come to feel more sweating in the foot, when the heat presses.

By the way, I still can't get the hang of the laces on these ASICS Gel Cumulus 25. I think another type of lacing would improve the fit in the instep area with a bit more structure. Although, in all fairness, the support is good. I'm one of those who likes to run with a more snug feeling in this area, but without being oppressive, of course. It gives me more security.
