Photos ASICS Gel Flux 4

1 / 9

Giving power to the stride is one of the main premises that many runners seek in every training and race. So by wearing a model like the ASICS Gel Flux 4 you will be closer to achieving that goal. This running shoe from the Japanese brand provides good cushioning, in addition to the energy return of the SpEVA® foam midsole. On the other hand, the Trusstic system takes care of the support so you can concentrate on every workout.

The upper of the ASICS Gel Flux 4 excels with a very simple blend of highly breathable mesh and supportive overlays. ASICS uses a combination of stitched overlays near the heel for added security, while the midfoot and toe overlays are welded. A well-cushioned collar and tongue add support and comfort for every workout.

The removable insole allows the runner to use their own orthotics. It could be the case that with a breathable mesh, this type of model gets wet easily, especially in adverse weather conditions. However, they dry quickly.

Lightweight and responsive cushioning

The midsole is where ASICS makes the difference in this fourth version of the Flux model. These shoes house two of ASICS' most popular technologies: one is the Gel cushioning system featured in the heel and forefoot for superior shock absorption; the other is SpEVA foam for lightweight, responsive cushioning.

SpEVA technology covers the entire midsole for quick and smooth transitions. In addition ASICS adds in the midfoot Trusstic system made with TPU, all systems together give integrity to this shoe.

Outsole with improved traction

The outsole of the Gel Flux 4 has been built with ASICS Running's exclusive AHAR compound, which is also present in other emblematic sagas of the Japanese house such as in the Gel Nimbus, or also in the new RoadHawk FF. In addition, this rubber is arranged in those areas where more protection is required to prevent premature wear of the material.

On the other hand, a softer blown rubber, DuraSponge, is used in the forefoot for more cushioning and traction. ASICS' core technology, Guidance Line, or a substantial vertical cutout that spans almost the entire outsole helps with movement from the rearfoot to the forefoot of the shoe. There are also substantial flex grooves in the forefoot for added flexibility.

ASICS Gel Flux 4 features of note

Runners on a tight budget, and those who are new to running will be able to get more confident and efficient performance with the ASICS Flux 4 running shoe. This running shoe may not have the latest in ASICS technology, but it doesn't skimp on comfort or durability. It's a sturdy daily training shoe that has enough arch support, security and springiness in the midsole, even this model is recommended for runners with mild pronation.

The technical specifications of the ASICS Gel Flux 4 indicate that the model has a 10-millimeter drop and weights of 352 grams for the men's model, and 258 grams for the women's version.

  • Evident change in the use of a softer mesh with wide open holes to create a bi-directional effect.
  • More breathable upper, sock-like fit due to the improved way the mesh adapts to the runner's foot.
  • Elimination of thick, stitched overlays in the forefoot. Without these substantially thick, stitched overlays, there should be less risk of irritation and more breathing room is given in the forefoot.
  • Instead of thick overlays, Asics has turned to thin, but welded overlays to help secure the midfoot and forefoot. The new overlays also add appeal and sophistication to these sneakers.
