ASICS Gel Fuji Attack 5

The ASICS Gel Fuji Attack 5 is the fifth edition of a model whose proven technical characteristics have managed to position itself in the preference of fans over time. For this new model ASICS has incorporated some different design features from the previous model, the overlays of the new style maintain the support and structure needed to provide support and balance.

When wearing them you can experience the same fit feel as the previous FujiAttack models, the spacing is adequate in the heel area, good fit in the midfoot and generous forefoot room. Even runners with wider or inflexible feet, or those who need orthotics, can make use of this model without the shoe feeling restrictive.

Technology integration

The midsole of the ASICS Gel Fuji Attack 5 has a number of technologies, the first being the famous Gel Cushioning system that offers special cushioning in the heel area designed to absorb and lessen impact.

The Solyte foam provides a good response in the race, it is characterized for being a light and resistant foam, capable of withstanding the onslaught of daily training. The new TPU Trusstic System, which has already been seen in a number of ASICS shoes, provides stability without adding weight, and the forefoot has extra protection against harsh trail elements thanks to the rock protection plate.

Stability is noticeable even on technical terrain, but if you prefer a flexible midsole it is possible to notice these shoes a bit stiff; the line between flexibility and stability on the road can be very fine but when wearing the Gel Fuji Attack it is possible to experience that its features allow a good performance in medium and long distance races.

Open mesh upper

The upper features an open mesh fabric for excellent breathability. ASICS removes some of the overlays in this edition of the ASICS Gel Fuji Attack 5 and strategically places new ones to give a better fit and support. The laces close in a traditional way so runners can get a customized fit.

Outsole

The outsole has multi-directional lugs in the forefoot and heel, which provides excellent grip, especially on steep trails or downhill runs. In this model the lugs are larger than in the previous model and work very well on medium to technical routes. AHAR rubber in the heel area offers excellent protection in this section.

The Fuji Attack 5 is a tough and supportive trail running shoe, the combined cushioning of three systems provides a comfortable shoe that absorbs ground impact well. Although the support system is limited, it effectively protects feet from debris and other trail hazards.
