If what you need is a long distance training shoe or you are a heavy runner with a neutral stride, this is the shoe for you. We all know Asics ' ability to design quality shoes. We remember shoes like the Nimbus model which is now in its 17th version.
The new Asics Gel Glorify has many aspects that remind us of the Nimbus 16 model:
The upper of the shoe is constructed with highly breathable fabric and incorporates the Fluid Fit, for a tension-free fit in the toe area. The heel incorporates an external structure to provide retention and stability. On the run you just notice that the heel is perfectly positioned.
The interior incorporates a treated EVA insole for a more cushioned feel, while the midsole structure of the shoe incorporates Speva 45, which runs the length of the shoe from the heel to the metatarsals. The Speva provides cushioning, stability and lightness by relaunching the stride.
The true potential of this shoe is seen when we have already covered a good distance. It is precisely here that the stability of the shoe is really noticeable. As a runner with an average weight of 72 kilograms, the shoe provides the stability you need to continue training when you get tired. In addition, the feel is not at all heavy, unlike other shoes on the market that do feel that way. As for the arch height it is medium, not low but high. In my case, with a cavus foot, I don't notice a gap in the plantar arch.
The cushioning, having detailed the pieces of Gel sheets, is very effective. In my case, being a runner that at the beginning I do enter from the toe and throughout the kilometers I transfer the stride to the toe arch. Asics clarifies that this is a consequence of the Fluid Ride plate and the Guidance Line, a longitudinal opening along the sole that provides independence to the shoe, both on the right and left side of the foot, so you also gain more sensitivity at the time of the stride in training.
It is not an ideal shoe for series, because the ground feel is a little higher than the most modern mixed shoes. It weighs in at 350 grams for a 44 foot, ideal for anice training pace above 5 minutes/kilometer.
