ASICS Gel Nimbus 17

Introducing the Asics Gel Nimbus 17 If there is a rival to beat in the segment of neutral running shoes with maximum cushioning and comfort, it is undoubtedly the Gel Nimbus model from Asics. When the Japanese company considered how to design the new version of its flagship shoe, it made the most difficult but ultimately the most successful decision: to almost completely revamp it, rather than evolve it. The result is this new Asics Gel Nimbus 17, a shoe designed for men and women that is capable of offering lightness, comfort and cushioning for long-distance training.

Looking back a year ago, the Asics Gel Nimbus 16 barely arrived with some changes and improvements. However, the new Gel Nimbus 17 represents an important qualitative leap that we can appreciate at a glance in its renewed upper design. On the other hand, the popular training shoe has been slightly lighter in terms of weight, standing at 306 grams for the men's model and 249 grams for the women's model. The drop remains unchanged at 10 mm.

Upper

The new upper design is quite striking compared to the previous version, giving it a more avant-garde and stylish touch. Asics has used an elastic mesh structure that has resulted in a lighter and more breathable upper, providing a pleasant feeling when it comes to fit your foot to the shoe as if it were a glove. In addition, a variety of seamless materials have been used in the construction of this remodeled upper to minimize and avoid discomfort caused by friction.

Midsole

The new Asics Gel Nimbus 17 features a new and improved midsole with FluidRide technology, consisting of a double-layer sole: the upper layer generates up to 20% more rebound and the lower layer is 15% lighter to provide even more cushioning and comfort if possible.

Both the rearfoot or heel and forefoot areas feature the Impact Guidance System technology and its characteristic cushioning system based on the famous GEL of the Japanese company to attenuate the impact produced at entry and contribute to a more dynamic take-off, contributing to a smoother and more balanced transition in each stride.

Outsole

Finally, we come to the outsole of the Asics Gel Nimbus 17, where almost no modifications are appreciated with respect to the previous model Nimbus 16 except in some tiny detail. It is made of a rubber compound (blown air) AHAR to enhance the grip and durability of the shoe against wear caused by the accumulation of kilometers and the abrasive effect of the asphalt.

Although officially this high-end shoe will start to be marketed in the United States from March 1 and will presumably arrive in Europe during the spring of this year, on the Asics website you can already see them at a price of 175 euros, while El Corte Inglés offers them for just under 149.95 euros.

Guidance Line

The Guidance Line is a flexible vertical groove along the line of progression of the sole that results in a more efficient stride.

3M Reflective

Reflective material manufactured by the 3M company that allows you to stay perfectly visible in the dark.

Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL Cushioning System

Attenuates shock during the impact and swing phases of the foot and promotes movement in multiple planes as the foot transitions through the stride cycle.

AHAR+

AHAR rubber compound (air blown) outsole. Provides optimal cushioning and durability and eases the stride.
