The ASICS Gel Sonoma 3 shoes are the improvement to a series of trail running shoes created by the Japanese firm for those runners with neutral footsteps. Its design incorporates an upper that makes use of bright colors, combined with more neutral ranges to preserve the sobriety of the shoe.

The construction of these shoes also allows them to have a less rugged aesthetic, like most shoes in their class. Overall, this gives them a more modern and lightweight look, while also highlighting the excellent performance that ASICS Running includes in the model.

Features of the upper of the ASICS Gel Sonoma 3

The upper is made of a highly durable mesh material, which protects the foot by wrapping it tightly. This mesh also offers a high level of breathability, so it is able to keep the runner's feet cool throughout the course of the run.

A series of synthetic overlays are also attached to the upper structure, and some of them make use of stitching, mainly in the front section of the shoe, which is in the interest of increasing durability. In the midfoot, these synthetic overlays are fused directly to the mesh to make this part of the shoe more comfortable and flexible.

On the inside, the shoes have a lining that also favors ventilation for a more comfortable feel. The highlight is a resource that adds great softness, so much so that you could wear the shoes even without socks, and still feel their comfort level without foot sweat making an appearance.

The collar and tongue are designed to reinforce comfort on the higher parts of the foot, also allowing for a more secure closure of the shoe, thus preventing slippage, or the shoe from slipping off while running.

ASICS Sonoma 3 Midsole

The midsole of the ASICS Gel Sonoma 3 incorporates the characteristic SpEVA rubber, which is able to provide a better response in its cushioning capacity. Its highly durable construction allows this section of the shoe to maintain its functionality for a longer period of time, even if the use is quite frequent.

The Japanese company's signature GEL cushioning system is located in the forefoot section of the shoe. This silicone-based unit attenuates impacts and provides a better transition between the heel and the foot during toe-off.

Inside the shoe is an insole that helps to improve the cushioning system and support of the model itself. The insole is molded to conform to the natural curves of the foot, and offer better support to the plantar arch.

ASICS Sonoma 3 outsoles

The soles of these shoes use the AHAR rubber developed by ASICS, which covers and protects the midsole to add durability against constant use. A design specifically created for uneven terrain has been implemented on the outsoles to offer better traction during trail running. Multidirectional lugs help improve the traction of the shoes.

More natural fit

The shoes are constructed with a semi-curved shape, which is intended to adapt to the natural shapes of the foot and fit more easily. The overall construction is well-suited to runners with a medium build.

With this design and the incorporations of the best technologies from ASCIS, the Japanese company has achieved a trail running shoe with a lightweight, functional and modern construction that will allow us to keep our feet safe regardless of the terrain conditions. The Gel Sonoma 3 features a standard 10-millimeter drop and weighs approximately 325 grams.
