Engineers at the ASICS Institute of Sport and Science (ISS) in Kobe, Japan, have managed to achieve a new milestone in the form of a running shoe: the ASICS MetaRun, the best long-distance shoe ever created by the Japanese brand. No wonder it is the brand's best-selling model and judging by the new update, which features a wide range of colors, it seems that the sales trend will continue along the same path. To get a rough idea of the performance of this model, it should be noted that it includes 15 technologies: 5 new, 4 patented and the best materials of the firm. Its new structure, reinforced with natural fibers, is able to reduce the fatigue of the material itself, so it recovers its original shape more quickly. Another compound that brings with it the midsole to provide the shoe with an unbeatable transition, since it adapts smoothly to the runner's own support needs.

AdaptTruss

New innovation with respect to the stability system. It is a double piece system, which is reinforced with carbon fiber, providing great stability and flexibility. This system adapts in a dynamic and personalized way to each athlete's run, providing flexibility when running, and being rigid if the foot tilts inwards. A softer stride and less pressure on the foot, these are the sensations that are generated.

Optimized Upper

Enhancing every runner's running experience

In 2013, Dr. Tsuyoshi Nishiwaki, Executive Director of the ASICS Institute of Sport and Science research unit, took on the challenge to create the best running shoe ever invented. With no time or cost constraints, the only requirement was that the MetaRun would dramatically improve the performance of any other ASICS shoe in the four major attributes that a long-distance model must meet: lightness, stability, fit and cushioning. To date, the development of one of these four qualities has been an obstacle that compromised the improvement of the others. That's why Dr. Nishiwaki and his team worked intensively on every detail, from the priorities of the midsole formula to the precise placement of the X-GEL.

Manufactured from a new level of chemical compound, with access to the best products and experts, rigorous testing led to the discovery of new materials and five innovative technologies that ultimately achieved the desired goal.

• Lightweight

The unique FlyteFoam midsole - constructed from organic fibers - is up to 55% lighter than the industry standard. This results in a significant reduction in the overall weight of the model (20 grams less), but also increases reactivity, durability and cushioning.

• Stability

The new AdaptTruss insert provides progressive adaptability in terms of stability. In combination with the new Sloped Duomax, the rear of the shoe gains 28% more stability, while that percentage increases by 15% in overall midsole stability. Both technologies have an immediate effect by reducing pressure in the arch area, so the runner will enjoy a more comfortable transition with every step.

• Fit

The MetaClutch system, an external exoskeleton combined with a foam interior that adapts to the morphology of the runner's heel, contributes to an upper optimized to provide an optimum fit. In addition, the Jacquard Mesh material provides improved stability (44% in the lateral and 26% in the medial side).

Dynamic Fit technology provides a 12% improvement in lateral support and 15% in the midfoot area.

• Cushioning

The use of the innovative X-GEL hybrid formula, which is strategically positioned, increases cushioning in the rear of the MetaRun by 18%. Integrated organic fibers return the midsole to its original shape with every step, giving you the same cushioning from the beginning to the end of your run.
