The Asics Nimbus 20 is here. The maximum cushioning running shoe from the Japanese brand surprises us all once again. Whenever people talk about the Asics Nimbus, they always talk about a model in which you can have almost blind confidence. One of those running shoes that do not fail, and that do not fail you, as on its own merits can be deduced from its sales. Not surprisingly, we are talking about one of the Asics running shoes most purchased by the faithful followers of this Japanese brand.
This running shoe that stands out for its generous cushioning is aimed at neutral runners over 80kg who are going to perform all kinds of runs at easy paces and who want a model that provides comfort and durability. In addition, these Asics Nimbus 20 come with many new features. And the first of them you will like: Now it is lighter.
The Asics Nimbus 20 arrives at this edition with some details - not many, it must be said, but really, would it take much more? - that will make this shoe even bigger, one of the best running shoes for neutral runners of medium to heavy we ights who demand rolling training shoes, also famous for its cushioning and comfort.
Do you want to know what contributions and possible changes it will bring, and what elements it will keep from previous editions?
Let's put our magnifying glass on these Asics shoes and analyze each part of the shoe. Thus, we will see that while the outsole and midsole remain almost the same as the 19 model, the upper does present some changes to highlight.
The Asics Nimbus 20 presents a very, very similar design to the Asics Nimbus 19, with some changes in the upper design, where the model number is located in the heel area, and where the word Gel Nimbus is also located.
At first glance, the outsole of this new model seems similar, or almost similar, to that of the Nimbus 19. There is little to be said about modifications, although it is also true that this part of the shoe did not require many changes.
Asics continues to exploit the possibilities of FlyteFoam, a star material that has already been incorporated in other models such as the Nimbus 19 or the Asics Noosa FF, and that will also be present in the new Asics Nimbus 20, which will also maintain its GEL in the heel and metatarsal, guaranteeing the well-known Asics cushioning.
Made with innovative foam developed at the ASICS Sports Science Institute, FlyteFoam technology is not just a bit lighter, it is noticeably 55% lighter than the industry standard. Not only are midsoles built with FlyteFoam technology very light, but they benefit from organic "superfibers" that regain their original shape in the space of each stride, providing perfect cushioning from the start to the end of the workout. This elasticity also makes FlyteFoam soles much more durable than their predecessors, so cushioning is at its highest and strongest.
If we look at the star-shaped eyelets and the tongue we find that the Asics Nimbus 20 seems to be more open in the instep area, so it seems that the brand wanted to address one of the most heard criticisms about the previous edition, a shoe that was described as "narrow".
In the heel, along with some slight modifications to the design, it seems that Asics continues to bet on the Clutch Counter reinforcement.
As far as we know, the Asics Nimbus 20 will weigh approximately 306 grams, quite similar to its predecessors. The 10-millimeter drop is also maintained, resulting in heel heights of 31 millimeters and forefoot heights of 21 millimeters. By the way, an exclusive detail in the women's model is that they have an additional 3 millimeters in the heel to increase the protection of the Achilles tendon.
The new Asics Gel Nimbus 20 looks quite similar to the Asics Metarun. As you can hear, a model that has not meant the definitive goodbye to the GEL technology that has offered such good results to Asics but that has been left a little bit behind (mainly in weight) with the new materials patented by the brand that focus on lightening weights and personalizing the stride to the maximum. In fact they have renamed the GEL and now call it X-GEL, more absorption, less weight and more durability.
The new Asics Nimbus 20 have 5 new technologies and of course the best materials.
In short, turning 20 years old is a milestone for the Japanese bestseller that has realized that you can not live only from the past (although sales continue to be incredible), but that the competition is tightening and it was time to bet and risk with a model that will continue to be the true reference in maximum cushioning.
